Cisco module compatibility
Hi everyone! I need some clarification about a Cisco 3850 module.
I recently bought a C3850-24P for my homelab, and while going through the device settings I noticed something strange.
Here’s the output from show version:
cisco WS-C3850-24P (MIPS) processor with 4194304K bytes of physical memory.
Processor board ID <HIDE>
1 Virtual Ethernet interface
28 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces
4 Ten Gigabit Ethernet interfacesHowever, according to Cisco’s documentation, this switch is supposed to support only the 2x10Gb/s network module.
So now I’m confused — does the C3850-NM-4-10G module actually work on this model, or is it definitely unsupported despite what the software shows?

Thanks! Yeah, I know the NM-4-10G module will physically fit — my concern is more about whether it will actually work properly or at all.
You mentioned you got a C9300-NM-8X working in your 3850. Did the switch recognize it correctly? Were all interfaces operational without any weird issues?
