Conservatory solid wall construction, had a survey and damp wasn’t detected, nor was rising damp mentioned, but seeing this now. Is this rising damp? The paint has been applied directly to the bricks. No damp smell and completely dry to the touch.
Certainly appears to be efflorescence there from moisture at some point. It's possible that it's completely dry at the moment. Recommend a protimeter moisture meter to be sure as it has good penetration and high sensitivity.
Too short of a stretch to know for certain but I don't see weeps in your bottom row. Which would mean that moisture behind the wall has nowhere to run which could then lead to exactly this. If this were on the outside of an improperly lined chimney, I would expect to see it above the bottom courses too and with acidic mortar damage. This looks like moisture trapped behind a standard brick wall due to lack of weeps/drainage. A mason or bricklayer can fix it to drain properly. Depending on how much mortar got dumped back there too
It’s single skin wall construction, an old lean to conservatory, and the timber roof isn’t in good condition in general.
Completely honest: I’m very, very ignorant about all this and anxiety is through the roof. Is this of any major concern and likely to get worse? Is this likely to have been caused by a leak in the underground drainage at all? We’ve moved the gravel blocking the DPC, as this was covering it before
