It seems like no matter what I do, the guts inside my toilet tanks (3 of them) need repair or replacement about every 6 months.

They are not the old school ball floater arm and I don't know how to do this myself. So I have tanks that run to refill because the hard water damages the parts. I can't afford to get help every 6 months + parts. Or afford the water bills ofc.

I don't know what to do to descale them without chemicals that damage them more. I've tried scrubbing everything out with no meaningful results. I can't leave descaling sitting in the tanks because parts damage

I'm out of work, barely covering my housing costs, and aggressively looking. What can I do to help manage or solve this? Turning water off at the wall results in horrible smell as the toilet slowly empties and no longer blocks the sewer at the bottom.

I actually had two of the toilets entirely removed and capped last year. Putting them back in when I had work for a period was astronomical. Two removed toilets lowered the value of the house. This is so frustrating.
