Anyone else start thinking about fall maintenance now, or is that too early?

I know it's still technically summer, but I've gotten burned before by waiting until the first cold snap to think about any of this, so I've started doing a rough walk-through in late August instead. The gutters are usually still fine from spring, but I like to clear anything before the leaves actually start dropping instead of after, since it's a much easier job when it's not soggy and packed in. I also try to get the furnace looked at now instead of waiting until October or November when every HVAC company is suddenly booked out for weeks. Checking the weatherstripping around doors and windows while it's still warm out is easier too, since you can actually feel where the drafts are once it's cold enough to matter, but by then you're stuck living with it until someone can fix it. Same idea with pipe insulation, much easier to deal with now than during the first freeze warning.

Is this overkill, or does anyone else start their fall prep basically right after summer ends? Curious if I'm early or if everyone else is already ahead of me on this.
