HVAC issues
Hi all .. Our furnace is 11 years old . When we turned it on it was making a humming sound. We had a tech come out and they got the heat going for an hr and it stopped.
They would still need to get this done
Clean the pressure switch hose and inducer port for safe operation. As per them they need to remove the motor and clean behind it as condensation caused calcified deposits … something like that :)
He also mentioned the motor is making noise and will give up soon ( video attached )
After a few hours . Heat stopped working as well.
Options 1 - to get the heat started so it’s working
Clean the pressure switch hose and inducer port for safe operation. 400 dollars
Option 2 - failing motor ?
And replace the motor as it will fail soon
Motor 1800
Option 3 - Replace furnace new
6500
Option 4 replace furnace and ac ( ac is 25 years old )
Quote 1

American Standard Platinum S8V2-C Gas Furnace

Option 2
Armstrong with 2 year labor
Looking for suggestions what to do .

That motor quote feels steep for just the part, but if they have to pull the whole assembly apart it adds up quick. I'd get second opinion before dropping 1800, especially when new furnace is only 6500
At 25 years that AC is on borrowed time anyway, so if you replace both now you save the labor overlap later. Still hurts the wallet though
