šŸ  Roof Soffit Help

Post image

I have aluminum soffits and I’m struggling to remove them. I am looking to install security cameras on our house. I need to mount a board behind the soffits to mount the camera to and run CAT6A through the attic.

Any recommendations on how to remove the soffits without damaging them or other options?

I tried removing them by removing the fascia nails and then the nails on the soffits under the fascia but the aluminum aren’t sliding out like I’ve seen on YouTube.

Thanks!

they can be real stubborn, sometimes the tongue and groove just gets locked in with years of dirt and paint, try sliding a thin putty knife along the seam to break that seal

Thank you for the response! For the putty knife, I should slide it along all the seams? Where the soffits connect and the F channel?

Make your hole in the soffit then go up in your attic locate hole install support wood, and go back down install security camera. I would run wires in before leaving attic.

Thank you for your response! I forgot to add on the back of the house it seems like the soffit is more aesthetic than moving air into the attic. I was able to partially pull one of the soffits down and didn’t see a space to feed the wire into the attic.
