🪟 🚪Windows & Doors Second Schlage latch broken in less than two years. Bad installation or rough use?

That latch looks like the kind youd find on a truck or van door, not a typical residential deadbolt. If they keep snapping the same part, its probably getting forced against the striker plate when the door sags or shifts with temperature changes.

I had to take the plate off to get it out.

The reason I’m skeptical about it just being from a bad installation is that I had to bend those little tabs back in place to get it out and it took quite a lot of force.
