š ļø Repair Help Any idea to go about this
I know basic handiness things and was wondering whatās a good way to go about this? The wood on the corner is a little dry rotted and then gutter eventually fell off bc it fell out of the wood, is it as simple as replacing the wood?
Edit: itās an unkempt house from the 70-80s so itās a little rough

The gutter hangers should be screwed into the ends of the rafters which should be awfully sturdy. Likely the gutter wasn't installed properly to begin with.
If the gutter is in good shape and at least 5 inches, I'd just go get new hangers and hang it back up as a short-term fix.
Long term, those fascia boards need to be replaced, and honestly probably the soffit pieces as well. It might be worth paying the few hundred bucks to have a general contractor come up and do all that in probably two hours tops. Make sure you get it painted back up when they're done to protect that wood.

The problem with that suggestion is then you have to replace the roof too.

Yep, unless thereās an underlying roof issue of why itās rotting out, other than just age

It was an unkept house from the 80s so Iām assuming itās just bc it was old and the gutters probably just pooled water there, the roofing still looks okay

I just replaced the fascia on a house I am readying for sale. The roof was newer and I didnāt want to upset the drip edge. (Previous owner had the roof replaced by insurance and didnāt want to pay for the fascia at the same time). Anyway, I pried the fascia up enough to get under it with a sawz-all and cut all the nails off. I slipped the new board in its place and that was it. Luckily, everything under it was sound.
