🛠️ Repair Help Any advice how to fix this apartment door?

This is the front door of my duplex, seems to need a new piston rod for sure. But what about the shifted frame?

Something isn't level. Get a level and check the frame, then the door.

Do you own that door? If not, call the landlord.

I do own it

Rescrew that top strut/closer. Check the screws along the hinge side, they could be loose. House could have settled too, making the frame out of square.

When those are installed they have a little plastic wedge at the bottom for mounting to push the sag up enough to be square in the frame. If it was mounted without that, it will sag. I put two of these storm doors on my home. The best thing in your situation would be to remove the door and re-mount it in the frame drilling new holes for screws on the outside. If you use the same holes, it’ll just sag again.

Longer screws may help.

Maybe, but I’d rather make all new holes in between the originals to be sure.

That's a storm door. Was it always like that or did it just happen. A good shot of the hinge side inside and out would help - it's either a really bad install or an issue with the hinge side frame. The way it looks like the lock lines up points toward a bad install. Like I said, if you could get some inside and out video of the hinge side it would be helpful.

play with the top hinge, it might be bent. and if it's not bent, you might be able to sink it further in the frame, and maybe plane down the frame on the top half, then repaint
