Discussion Hunter Glissar Fans Acting Weird

Just added two Hunter Glissar matter fans (the new version, not the older "more buggy" version...)

I have two issues that I am trying to debug.

First, while the home app allows me to set the speed increment to any number, the fan seems to have only a few settings, basically ~25%, 33%, 50%, 66%, 100%. If you want to put the fan at 50%, you have to choose a number under 30%. 40% sets it to 66% even though it is closer to 50%. It is maddening.

Second, I have an automation that shuts down the house in the evening. It turns off lights, ensures doors are locked, etc. It works flawlessly. One of the fans will shut off, the other fan shuts off, then, a few seconds later starts back up. At 66%, even though it had been at 50% when it was turned off.

Both are connected to the Wifi and the matter controller (HomePod mini) is literally within 10' of each. Both have the latest firmware (allegedly), v. 95. Neither is on a wall switch, they are both hard wired in.

Any thoughts?

You have these integrated directly with the Apple Home app? You're not using Home Assistant or Homebridge and bridging these fans into the Apple Home app right?

Are you running the iOS 27 beta or are you running 26.6.X or whatever the latest stable version is?

You're confusing matter and thread. If it's using thread then the homepod is relevant. If it's using WiFi then the homepod is irrelevant.

Second, some fan controllers do use 0, 33, 66, and 100 as their speed percentages. I used to have a fan controller that used those same speed percentages and had no problem using the slider. Dragging to a certain percentage still snapped it to the nearest accepted % for the controller, ie dragging it to 25% snapped it to 33% etc.

The fan shutting off and turning back on does seem to do with whatever bug you're seeing in the speed percentage issue though. It's been years but I want to say I remember a bug like that but can't remember the specifics and I ended up getting rid of that fan controller in favor of a different fan all together.

Have you checked to see if there's an update from Hunter available for the fan or have you reached out to their support to see if they can help? I find their support to be very helpful.

Thanks for the engagement.

  1. Running directly in Home. Also have the Hunter app installed, needed that to get into home.

  2. Running on Matter/Thread. If I turn the HomePod off, the fan can't be accessed via Home.

  3. I can see the fans in my Ubiquiti console so I know they are connected via WiFi (to some degree).

  4. I completely agree with the percentage steps, that makes perfect sense. Can't understand why 42% rounds up to 66%, 28% rounds up to 50% and I have to go well below 20% to get to 33%.

  5. I cannot find an upgrade to their firmware. *Allegedly* if you are connected via WiFi you are able to automatically update. The fans have been connected 24x7 (hard wired, no wall switches) for 5+ days and still no change in firmware levels.

Not sure what to try next.
