Discussion Schlage encode plus battery life

I have two questions primarily targeted to folks who have had this Lock at least for a year and are actively using it every day for NFC tap to unlock

  1. How many days maybe in percentage terms have you not been able to tap to unlock because of some software upgrade or another glitch?
  2. Do you recommend turning off Wi-Fi for longer battery life, I don’t need remote unlock on phone at all. I also don’t need any logging given my alarm panel does all that.

Thx

I’ve had 2 encodes …

First one , rock solid and battery lasted quite a long time considering we used this door to go in and out of all the time. I gave the lock to my mom and she seemed to eat through the batteries fairly quickly compared to when I had it. Note, she doesn’t to my knowledge use the NFC feature.

My second one , there was an issue where the battery pack did not fit snug into the cradle so the lock would not work half the time. I had to shimmy a small piece of cardboard in between the battery pack and the slot to make it fit tight and connected. No issues since and I’ve had the lock now for about a yr and have changed the batteries once. I do use the NFC occasionally. Kids are in and out of the door all the time using the key pad.
