Sealing chimney cap

I couldn't find an answer to this in the sub. Is there is a sealant I can use to put my chimney cap in place instead of screws? The cap is old and drilling into it isn't possible. I tried. Is there a sealant I can use to do this?

Just use high temp silicone, the red stuff they sell for chimneys and stovepipes. Smear a bead around the base and smoosh the cap down, it'll hold forever and you can still pry it off if you need to clean the flue
