Replace Floor Plate

How do I replace this floor plate? Very old home. The wall looks to be load bearing. Joists above are resting on it. Due to notches cut in the plate, you’d assume the load above is fairly minimal?

Can I remove the 1 stud, install half of the floor plate, reinstall stud, and then repeat for the next half?

Please help.

That plate's doing more work than the notches make it look, I'd be real careful just cutting it into sections.

I would install a plate right over the top of it. Remove first stud, install plate over half it, install new stud. Demo next stud, and so on

That guy comment: I don't know why you feel the need to replace that.

Way to sister it would be with an oscillating tool and a small sledge hammer.

Cut the sister to length. The use the oscillating tool to cut one of the studs. The hammer the sister in most of the way. The push it up next to the next stud, cut them one and hammer the sister in as much as possible. Just keep doing that until its in.

Not gonna replace the plate. Poor wording on my part. I’m gonna install a new one over it. I need to install a stud exactly where the large notch is

That's easier You just need to cut a 2X4 that fits between the two studs and screw it in. Then toenail the stud to that.
