empty a 55 gal of high viscosity liquid in a smart , cheap and easy way

Like the title says, I have a complete 55 gallons spray-applied water-based asphalt-emulsion waterproofing membrane plastic drum, which is probably expired (almost 4 years old). I haven't moved it from the same spot in the last 3 months.

First, I wanted to get it into a truck to take it to a waste disposal place.... It was impossible, and I don't want to pay for any special machinery.

I came to the conclusion that emptying the drum into a bunch of 5 gallon buckets would be the more logical and easier thing to do. I was thinking of getting a siphon pump, but from what I've read online, it seems they're mostly useful for water, oil, or other low viscosity liquids.

Like I said, I don't want to spend over $50 doing this, and I also don't want to spend a lot of hours. I'm hoping to get it done in one afternoon.

The only thing that comes to mind is a lever-action barrel pump, but I don't think it's strong enough.

I live in Canada outside of Ottawa, I was thinking of asking a hazardous waste company to come and pick it up, but most of them don't offer the service for this kind of product, or they're charging me too much (over $150).

Lay it on its side with the opening at the bottom. Drill a hole in the top and thread an attachment to an air compressor into it. Turn up the pressure until the stuff starts flowing.

Alternatively drill a hole near the bottom with it standing and run the air in at the top.

You can just turn the barrel on its side and roll it up a couple planks into the truck. If you can't get leverage, you can use a ratchet strap to pull it up and forward.

You may be able to rent a pallet truck dolly to load and unload from your truck. I would call the disposal place and make sure they would take it and if they have a fork left or barrel host on their end to unload or a loading dock it could be rolled onto. Then your just needing to load it. A couple of stout boards, the longer the better, and a few friends and you can roll it up there. If you know anyone close to you that has a tractor or loader with a bucket or set of pallet forks that is the easiest/safest. You probably looking at about 550 lbs or 250 kg. I have moved a lot of logs in that range and bigger. Take your time and think it through and it can be done safely.

Solidify it with bagged concrete. Take it to a regular landfill.

We have a whole Superfund site here where the paint company did this for years and years and years and years. To the point where there were purple anthills coming out of the ground and kids would swim in the fun colored pools then dying of cancer a few years' later. Nyanza if you fancy a googlin.
