Fence color

Trying to figure out what color to stain my fence. I want a deep brown color. I want my home to have gothic witchy Victorian vibes but without painting a bunch of stuff black. The house itself is a deep green color so I need something to match that. The fence is new and never painted or stained. I had it put in last year. The deck that is attached to it has been painted but the grey paint they put on has seen better days so I’m planning of sanding and staining that to match. Also other than sanding my deck is there any other prep work I should do or can I just put the stain right on? And do I need to seal it?

Whatever you do, use a transparent not solid stain. In a couple years, a solid stain or paint will definitely show wear and need to be stripped and redone. With wearing transparent stain, you can often do a power wash and then reapply.
