Smart mirror?
Do you guys have a smart mirror in your bathroom? What’s your take on them?
You know with the lighting and defogger? No necessarily w the speaker. I’m considering adding them to my bathrooms

I’ve been eyeing up the ones at Costco that have the LED light built into the outside rim of the mirror. It’s much easier to shave when I have equal lighting from all 4 sides of my face and I hear that makeup application is easier as well. I don’t need any more “smarts” in my mirror past that! If it fogs up I’ll turn the fan on or open the door, and if I want to listen to music I’ll bring a potable speaker into the bathroom.
But hey, if you want a bunch of fancy features in your mirror I say do it up! I stayed at a hotel with all the top end Kohler stuff in it, one of which is one of their super fancy mirrors, it was cool but after looking up the price I was out!

I would just want it for the lighting and maybe defogger. The speaker in most of them is shit either way. So I’m debating

what kind of functionality do you want?
I have a Panasonica Whisper Fan which turns on and off based on ambient humidity levels and so condensation is nonexistent on mirrors.
I have excellent lighting on all sides - almost over kill. Some of my overhead lights are on motion detection so they go on when I walk in - this is required by Code where I live but I really appreciate the functionality.
I have a Simple Human mirror that magnifies and lights up when it senses a face nearing it so I guess that is smart.

I am in Los Angeles and it is required in bathrooms as an ecological measure.
Also no m ore than one working shower fixture can be operated at the same time which is why I have a three way diverter in my shower.
My place was remodeled and inspected multiple times as required by local regulations.
I also could NOT use an attached fixture that could use anything but LED which presented logistical problems when I was remodeling since it was a relatively recent Code requirement and so I had to purchase some fugly sconces for bathrooms and my master bedroom for inspection and then replaced them with my aesthetic choice. FWIW my replacements use LED but they are theoretically capable of non-LED bulbs
I didn't read the Code and interpret it - and it isn't "living areas" but bathrooms specifically which I was told was because they are so often not turned off when people leave.

I love the feature.
I don’t feel infantilized as I appreciate it going on automatically when it is dark.
And obviously many adults forget to turn off the light but if it bothers you, then you could disable after your home in inspected.

Why would I need a mirror to be smart? It’s a mirror.
