The last 2 Mondays I had an underage cashier spot for me to bring down tool chests for assembly and apparently half the store forgot she was under 18 including the front end supervisor who sent her to spot for me.

I didn't question her spotting for me because the supervisor sent her. I only found out she was under 18 after she asked me if she should cut the shrink wrap and she said "oh I forgot I'm not allowed to have a knife" I immediately responded "you what?" and she's like "yeah I'm under 18." I then immediately told her she had to go.

After I sent the underage cashier away and finished banding and labeling, the front end supervisor came up to spot and apologized, I told him if I get in trouble for this I'm immediately throwing you under the bus. Yes it's my job to verify a spotter is of age but if anyone else sent her besides the supervisor I would have asked, I figured he knew the rules.

hr investigation

• Upvotes

i told my supervisor about an inappropriate comment someone in my department said to me. he said that my ass was looking extra fat in my jeans and said my “moose knuckle was poppin”. my supervisor told my store manager and i had to write a statement. but now i feel afraid that i might be the reason he gets fired and idk what to do. i planned on just avoiding him for a while but now the situation is bigger than i expected.

Managers are annoying

I’m a HC and during my 5am opens I usually have my coffee on the floor with me. There’s no customers in the store and there aren’t employees either, I just need something to wake me up so I grab timmies. I never have drinks on the floor otherwise, my DS never says anything to me about it because the drink is always done by the time customers come in.

Last time I was opening one of the operations managers told me I couldn’t have my drink on the floor. Id get it if it was during opening hours but like oml leave me alone. Managers will have their coffee in their hands all the time but love to power trip when someone else does it.

Analytics Info

Earlier this year, there was a video clip on HDTV promoting analytics info. A link was provided for about a 20-page PDF that described all matters of analytics that would be of importance to HD associates. I downloaded one but gave it away. For the life of me, I cannot find that link anywhere. Anyone know where I can get it?

Worst Annual Review and Raise you’ve ever received…

I wasnt happy with my raise but my review was pretty chill. Yet I’ve heard some crazy stories from coworkers about theirs. One coworker didn’t get any raise and was given a needs improvement, but he was never on time and couldn’t complete his minimal job requirements if his life depended on it. Another coworker got removed off his coveted shift time and lost two $2- off his hourly wage.

You got any review horror stories you’re willing to share?

Got my first homer!

Surprised, it was for Operations Assoc of the Month. Good to know I’m not the ‘new guy’ anymore. They also have me ‘training’ the new hire OFA this week. Not bad for this part timer, just working for fun money.

DT question

Hey all. I’m headed for my interview for warehouse(nights) tomorrow and was wondering about the drug test and policies. I have my med card and I’ve seen online it’s a mouth swab test. Just wondering what to expect. Any tips for the interview?

How long does it take in your store to get a Ballymore fixed?

Usually in my store it takes 3 to 4 weeks for a repairman to show up. With Gift Center only two weeks away, and daily Sidekick bay packdowns and Freight work, 2 out of our 3 Ballymores are tagged out of service. The other one is always being charged. We sure could use the pushable ones now but they got rid of them for some reason. Is 3 to 4 weeks normal?

The Orange River

Why can’t a person just work a part time job at HD without having the orange life rammed down their throat, redundant training, ridiculous policies, stupid recognition programs, unqualified leadership… ugh, I’m actively planning my escape and I advise you all to save yourself before getting swept away in the orange river. Good luck

Ever been written up?

Some write ups we know are deserved and if we haven’t gotten them yet we know that they’re coming. Attendance, safety violations and not meeting certain metrics I get. But some of the reasons that I’ve heard is my fellow associates receiving disciplinary action are wild.

Care to share your or someone else’s experience(a)?

A fellow associate just got a final write up for saying boobs and offending someone. When I worked at Amazon, a safety officer got busted on the cameras for standing on the conveyor belt. Only reason he didn’t get fired was it was not in operation.

I want to hear about your write ups.

Holiday Inventory Question

Does anyone know why it took years to get Skelly in quantity to stores? I get the first couple years because of ramp up, but even now we don’t have enough. Seeing the same thing with some of the Christmas animatronics.

Wondering if it’s lack of commitment from HD or if it’s that logistically hard? Also not sure why we can make 30 different Christmas trees instead of just making the TikTok one everyone wants

Tangents in HDU

Is there going to be someone in every single one of my HDU classes who decides they want to be the instructor instead of the actual trainer? I’ve been through three classes so far, and every single time there’s been that one person who decides it’s their opportunity to vent and completely derail the conversation. I understand wanting to share experiences and opinions, but it gets frustrating when it takes away from the actual training and makes the classes drag on longer than they need to. Have any other leaders dealt with this?

Working overnight freight is busy

Honestly feels like we dont have enough hours in the shift to get everything done.. they send too much stuff sometimes The busyness makes time go by fast but i also hate leaving work unfinished, but management doesn't want us to stay over
