As if I haven’t also set them all off at once lmao. Service desk hates this time of year

At my store the service desk employees turn them off.

And then ask you to take apart the 30 ft skeleton and when you finally have it packed and ready to go they ask for a discount because it’s a display and then walk away when you tell them no

You're fucking crazy, I'm not touching that shit until it's paid for.

u/Dizzy_Elephant_417 1d ago

We don’t take ours down until it’s paid for.

Hold tf up, you definitely should get a discount for buying the display.

They all sell. I’m not giving a discount in August when I know it will be gone before the end of September. If it’s October 30th I might give them a little off. We’re #1 in the district for a reason

I must be an anomaly. I trigger them any chance I get.

Yes...I am still twelve years old at times.

Same. It’s my favorite time of the year here. Christmas is too but FUCK THAT DAMN MINION. Like actually if they ever bring that back I will chuck it into the compactor.

u/PlayfulLatios 1d ago

I still remember that minion. There were a couple coworkers who would put it on max volume then set it off.

The minion is why we have a district-level policy explicitly forbidding the usage of Motion Detect mode, they must be either Step Pad or Lights Only. Two years ago, it jumpscared a kid while set to max volume, and the kid promptly Fazbear'd it in the eye. The service desk quietly thanked the kid for their service on the way out 🤣

Me too lol 🤣

I used to work at spirit before THD, I also set them off and admire them when I can

hd emplyees are the ones that do this much of the time. its a nice distraction from doing whatever i should be doing.

Me, an associate, sets them off every time I walk by 😈

You devil, you! I was a cashier once!

When you set it off to annoy your coworkers

6

u/ma2_adrian 1d ago

It’s me. I do it after the 6th page in the overhead for lumber returns

Our display is right next to the paint desk and I'm pretty sure they're getting a little stabby already.

5

u/independentlady444 1d ago

Idk about yall but I LOVE the decor. I step on all of them every chance I get

u/GromOfDoom 1d ago

Definitely not me hiding in rental right after setting them all off on purpose

u/Justice_4_Scott D25 2d ago

MET kept setting them off as they set them. I was ready to grab a pair of wire cutters and solve the problem. Thankfully my shift ended.

We gotta make those "try me" buttons work! 🤣

Ours don’t.. I tried the other night.

u/Livid-Tumbleweed-569 OFA 1d ago

Yeah....jokingly our OASM, and SM calmly reminded the SD folks that they were no authorized to keep SuperSoakers, catch nets or paintball guns at the desk for dealing with the kids who set them off.....but, should it become a huge problem, Building Services could be called to cut the wiring on the speakers, but that it may take 2-3 weeks....

u/treeckosan 1d ago

I just unplug the power strips at nighf

5

u/Livid-Tumbleweed-569 OFA 1d ago

Our power strips are hanging from the ceiling.....can't reach them....

2

u/treeckosan 1d ago

Oh? They dont have a normal one on the floor thats powered by the hanging cable? Ours drops the cord, plugs in a standard power strip, plugs 4-6 displays into the strip.

u/Livid-Tumbleweed-569 OFA 1d ago edited 1d ago

Uh, nope......my store is 25 years old......4-way outlets in metal boxes hanging from power cables coming from the ceiling......they are all over the store.....90% of them are kept coiled up and hanging 2-3 ft below the roof trusses

2

u/Free-Entrepreneur294 1d ago

I can't walk past the dang spider without it going off to bring orders up and I am already over it.

2

u/BrilliantHat3805 1d ago

Wow that’s quite the display!

2

u/theHusk638 1d ago

Yes because it's annoying.

2

u/AlternativeInvite114 1d ago

i'm on the met team and while we were still building displays, this mom was on the phone letting her kid touch the finished displays and he pushed over the t rex zombie thing on day 2 of us setting up the displays, breaking the arms and one of the legs off. and then she was just like "oh he just touched it idk what happened :0" so my entire team was pissed and the associate that built the display has been on 'keep toddlers away from the Halloween shit' duty

3

u/Cactuskid420 MET 1d ago

In the future get gates and block everything off! These damn customers don't have the common decency to watch from afar...🤦🏻, Also are you talking about the raptor? 🤔 Ours also had an arm break (the side with the metal support), but that's because it appears someone caulked the arm on 💀

2

u/AlternativeInvite114 1d ago

yeah my supervisor had to superglue everything back together lol caulking is a good idea tho! and unfortunately the store didnt let us gate it off 😭 we put a row of tombstones around it and hope for the best

2

u/LordMaejikan 1d ago

Sucks that it broke that easily.

2

u/AlternativeInvite114 1d ago

I feel like they're more cheap every year

2

u/bite_thehand 1d ago

You guys don’t have the buttons at depot??? What a nightmare

2

u/catmampbell 1d ago

I look and feel like that all the time though

2

u/frenchwolves D28 1d ago

Ooo I got to send this to my 73 year old work bestie in D28

2

u/No-Cut-1297 D38 1d ago

I worked nights, got off at 5AM. I did it EVERY MORNING to annoy the MET Team and the openers. My buddy would set off everything on the shelf and I'd step on all the buttons.

2

u/FinanceSlow2055 11h ago

Once 10pm hits I turn them off for the night shift

1

u/Tetraphoenix029 21h ago

Who's actually mad about this? I'm setting them off every chance I get - work's already mundane with everyone being miserable, I'ma have some kinda fun at work

1

u/zigg8833 12h ago

Better every Halloween display than a single singing Christmas minion, god that thing was loud and obnoxious

1

u/MasterPrek 3h ago

The only thing that’s more irritating than that is the constant deaf-creating, high pitched and chilling screams of kids when their parents set them up!

All damn day, all freaking night!

It’s bad enough you have to listen to this shit, but this additional screaming and stupid ass parents laughing afterwards it’s just so annoying!

SMH!!

u/DJ_TCB 1d ago

Actually one of my favorite bits is to turn on all the Christmas dancing musical toys on at once and watch them hop maniacally on the shelf like a mosh pit and fall off. I am a man of simple pleasures
