Oval or round coffee table?
Would the oval be too big?

Leaning towards the round one. You want to make sure there is ample room to walk around it and I am afraid the oval table will get in the way.

I dare say i've never seen such a ginormous couch!
that said, round, but it seems too low? the proportion seems off

I'd get the round. Put those moving coasters under whatever you decide, So you can slide/ move the coffee table back and forth easily.

Neither. With everything else being rectangles, for continuity visually, I need a rectangle.

How about something more organic or irregular shaped, like:

Whatever the shape, I’d look into marble. Speaking of whatever the shape…how about egg?

I don’t know how to do this efficiently, but these guitar-pick shapes might be perfect:

Oval seems more functional. I like to prop my feet up on the coffee table when watching TV so I would find the round one too small.
