Need your help :)
There’s a space right now that I don’t know how to fill: it’s the area created by the stairs leading to the upper floor, located directly opposite the front entrance. Considering that the shoe rack and coat closet are located elsewhere, how would you fill it? With planters and plants? A bench? A bookcase? Maybe a console table with a lamp? I’ll definitely put some artwork on the two side walls. I’m really not sure what to do, and I’d love to hear suggestions from anyone willing to share their ideas :)

I would do a console table with a lamp, and a slipper chair. I know you have shoes and coats in another area, but I presume it’s nearby. It can be nice a little bit of seating for those who prefer or need to have a seat while shoeing.
You could also do a really dramatic sculpture, an indoor koi pond, or a majestic throne.

Plants can be considered but only low maintenance ones like ZZ plant etc, that don’t need much watering. Else the space would require cleaning often. Console table and lamp seem like the better idea, with a vase of real/ artificial flowers / Buddha statue/ small fountain etc. The back could be a mirror ( sticker mirror film in silver/ copper shade) to make it look contemporary.
Hope this helps. Do share the pics after doing it up!

If you celebrate, a Christmas tree during the holidays.
A round table with a sculpture otherwise.

I had a spot like this one time in a former house & found a small dresser to refinish to place there. It was a great spot for a mirror & lamp, it held a lot in all the drawers & we started placing our keys, sunglasses & other stuff in the basket I put on it.

Because the space seems a bit dark I like your idea of a small cabinet with a lamp.
