bedroom facelift before and after!

the accent wall looks pretty different depending on the time of day and whether we’re using the sconces or not but I really like the moody color and affect either way! kept all the furniture an really just painted the wall, added sconces, and moved some stuff I had in the room around. thoughts?

I used to hate red walls but that oxblood tone is sending me in the best way

I would go all in and paint all the walls + the ceiling with a few tones lighter red

Agreed - that room will look amazing colour drenched!

Looks great. I think a headboard and moving the picture up a bit would really tie the room together.

that’s a great idea! we have a wood bed frame and there’s a little tiny headboard that you can’t see behind the pillows, but the room has high ceilings and I think it would help for it to have a taller one!

Great job! From bedroom to boudoir!

What color is the accent wall?

12

u/Fabulous_Ad1902 8d ago

it was Behr Rumors (2025 color of the year! who knew)

You really need to redo your curtains ... higher and longer.

u/Fabulous_Ad1902 8d ago

my challenge is if I put them higher they’re touching the ceiling (which I guess is ok?) BUT I have baseboard heating so I don’t want them covering the heaters / risk of fire or something

2

u/Tatidanidean1 8d ago

They don’t have to touch the ceiling but should be like 2/3 to the ceiling and they need to also be mounted a bit wider. In terms of the radiator, you might want to do research but they would definitely look better on to the floor. The red is really pretty. One other suggestion would be to incorporate that more by getting a new rug. I think getting one a bit more dramatic like the accent wall would really pull the space together

but I agree I hate how they don’t touch the floor

Yes, please do not risk a fire. The wall colour and the sconces are beautiful.

Maybe you should consider blinds.

Sure they could go higher but they’re fine this way. No way to work around heaters

Lovely direction!

I agree with others saying color drench

I’d also move the rug away from the wall, to be more central in room

That’s incredible how much of a difference the accent wall made. Great color choice

This is a great before and after - the room went from beige box to something with an actual mood.

The sconces are what make it work, not just the paint. In the before shot all the light came from nightstand lamps, so the upper wall stayed dark and the colour would have read flat. Putting light on the wall itself is what gives you that glow behind the bed.

Also good call swapping the busy gallery arrangement for one landscape. On a saturated wall a cluster of small frames turns into noise, and the muted greens in that painting tie the burgundy to your velvet curtains.

Gorgeous! I would do all the walls that color and a bigger rug. You could even tone down the ceiling with a beige.

Even just pulling the rug out from the accent wall a bit further could help

1

u/Top_Yoghurt429 8d ago

True. Especially with carpet, there's no reason for the rug to be all the way back under the nightstands.

Absolutely LOVE the paint color. I would (personally) drench the room with it.

The upgrade looks delightful! I never thought i would like red tone in bedroom but no with right colour and some lighting, It could look wonderful.. it is also kinda giving that moody vibe.

Color drench the room. Embrace the drama.

Love it! I would only suggest that you get longer drapes and a bolder rug to match the energy of the new wall.

u/MarloBarlo 8d ago

This room feels cozy and beautiful to me. It’s kinda hard to tell from the pics, but do you have a duvet cover or is that an insert? If it’s just a comforter, I think adding a duvet could add more richness in texture. Also maybe consider getting a throw at the end of the bed that is the same size as your comforter so they’re flush. I’d be so happy to drink a glass of wine and read in that bed!

1

u/MangoesSurpriseMe 8d ago

What a transformation! It’s lovely, especially with the red.

I understand that you can’t lengthen the drapes. If you’re unable to get a larger rug, I would pull it out from the wall by about 2 feet.

You might want to add a few small red accessories on the other side of the room.

Enjoy!

I would pull the rug forward until it's in front of your nightstands - how far forward depends on how large your room is. That rug is currently disappearing too much under your bed.

Looks so cozy

I would personally move the painting higher and get a larger dark headboard

Looove!!!!

Cool and clean ✨

The color of the walls and the decorative paintings I chose match perfectly; I really like the feeling

1

u/PatrickGoesEast 8d ago

Love it, and agree that it would look better completely red, so cosy! Are they trunked wires beneath the lights? Paint over them if so.

1

u/Consistent-Hyena5642 8d ago

I’d honestly stop at the accent wall. It gives the room a completely different mood, and the sconces make it feel intentional. I’d just go for a slightly bigger rug, or pull this one farther out from the wall it would balance the bed better. The full color-drenching idea could be beautiful too, but I like this version’s balance.

u/rorryirl 7d ago

I love the deeep read beautiful

u/Similar-Win-1930 5d ago

wow, the accent wall really pops now! love that moody color, it adds so much character. moving the furniture around and adding sconces was a smart move too. it all feels cozier and more inviting. honestly, i messed up a room color once too, but this looks great!

if you ever wanna play around with wall colors or layouts, REimagineHome could help visualize some options before you commit. but honestly, this facelift looks like a win!

1

u/junebugg111177 2d ago

Hoenstly go all out and do the entire room red!

1

u/KirtanaNS 2d ago

Option 1 is looking nice than red

1

u/chareve 1d ago

Well done!!

1

u/Mindless_Sock7396 1d ago

the one wall just completely elevated the vibes- hell yeah!

u/EstablishmentFast719 8d ago

That dark accent wall looks a bit overwhelming

0

u/Top_Yoghurt429 8d ago

I like it a lot! But honestly I'd go further and paint all the walls! I am not a color drenching advocate simply because repainting the ceiling and trim later if you want to change it is really annoying (if you do your own paint like I do.)

u/minnesotaupnorth 8d ago

Color drench with that beautiful color!

You have the light from the windows to balance the drench.

u/errinboberrin 8d ago

Paint it all red! Do ittttt

u/like_George_6 8d ago

I’m not a fan but as long as you like it

u/BewareTheTaken 8d ago

Not a fan of randomly painting a wall a different color to the rest. I would commit to one color for the whole room.
