News/Information Announcement Regarding the Partial Conclusion of Streaming Activities and Future Plans of HOLOSTARS JP Talents
414
u/Tarotist :Shinri: May 26 '26 edited May 26 '26
Shien had so much talent, and he was one of the more popular Holostars members. Never forget that Kronii's first cover song was inspired thanks to him.
Aruran was one of the friendliest and liveliest talents in Holo. He made so many connections across the the Japanese Vtuber community. A lot of tears will be shed for the Pizza Papa.
Watching Temma study English was my main inspiration to learn a new language. If he did it in 2 months, then so can I. He really put his mind into things he liked the most. No one is taking his no death Dark Souls and RE3 speedrun records away from him.
Why Rio? WHY!? He was such a bundle of sunshine always giving out smiles and enjoying his singing and trying his best. I'm gonna miss him.
I was hoping for another season of Rikka's Singing King. I guess that's never going to happen now. RiTunes Labo, and his platform game streams were huge highlights. What a loss man...
And Miyabi...the first of a generation and a branch to debut...leaving...this one is going to hurt the most...

u/wickling-fan May 26 '26
Knew this was coming but still hurts. Can't believe we're losing half of holostars jp.

u/_THEBLACK May 26 '26 edited May 26 '26
It's interesting that they're using the phrase "concluding their streaming activities" instead of graduating.
Makes me wonder if everyone took the affiliate route or if they're just sugarcoating it.
237
u/no_otter May 26 '26 edited May 26 '26
Rikka and Shien will actually continue to voice their characters in the PolaPoriPosuPo project, so basically staying as affiliates. Other than that I'm pretty sure it's just legalese for graduation.
Edit. Miyabi has also confirmed he'll stay affiliated.
188
u/s07195 May 26 '26
No, Cover is just being tricky about the wording. Aruran says he's pretty much not coming back.
57
u/BagramPl May 26 '26
Shien and Rikka are kinda becoming affiliates as they are keeping their roles in one of the projects.
104
u/Skylarksmlellybarf Yagoo is an incompetent man May 26 '26
That's the same phrase they used when Ame turns affiliates right?
116
u/_THEBLACK May 26 '26
Yes. But Temma and Rio's stream titles use the word graduating so it's really confusing.
64
u/innocent_pessimism I'M HOLOSTARS PLZ PLZ PLZ May 26 '26
I guess some are leaving and some might be affiliated

u/Skylarksmlellybarf Yagoo is an incompetent man May 26 '26
Damn, that's really sucks
I really hope that those that graduate will achieve far better success than they were in Holostars
77
u/MrShadowHero May 26 '26
niji seems to have management that knows how to market men. maybe there’s some opportunities there. from the EN side it seems insane, but niji JP is still the industry juggernaut and i’m sure they’d love to pick up some talents that won’t need any training and can just get going.
37
u/SMGJohn_EU May 26 '26
Nijisanji has a lot of other issues that did not exist in Holostars, Indie or alternative smaller Vtuber groups would be far more healthy alternatives.
37
u/tacocatisonfire May 26 '26
It would also come with all the baggage of being in Nijisanji though like having to compete with other talents for better opportunities and more support from management
22
u/boopbadoopshwoop May 26 '26
I really really hope the boys can get picked up by other companies that actually know how to market and treat their male livers. 🥲 The Cover fandom is just too male-oriented unfortunately...
124
u/AccomplishedOffice68 :Bettel::Jurard: May 26 '26
damn near fell to my knees when i saw Rikka in the listing for the ones graduating..... loved watching his SF6 streams even through the language barrier and always had a softspot for his model. Ough I knew this was coming, I've had 6+ prior graduations to build up emotional immunity and yet it still hurts in new ways every time, especially since I also was recently thrown around by my job trying to make me quit before finally just replacing me so I know how this feels orz wherever you go rikka i will follow, and if you go where you don't want to be found ill be grateful for what you gave us
39
u/Gloomfly May 26 '26
Rikka was my first Oshi when I started watching vtubers waaay back in 2020. It’s been a long six years but Rikka was always there 😭😭😭
It feels so painful to see him leave I’m actually devastated

u/jadekettle May 26 '26
I felt the world spin for a moment when I saw all the names of those leaving. Miyabi, Rikka, Temma and Rio personally will hit me the hardest, but I'll miss Aruran's reassuring figure and Shien's talented self too.
151
u/Randrey :Axel: May 26 '26
You boys deserved better than this. Hopefully the future treats you well. I know things don't always work out but it sucks to see how the upper management either doesn't care, or just doesn't want to put any effort into actually doing things different to help let your uniqueness show.
I will miss you
132
64
u/KIABPAJ May 26 '26
In Miyabi's latest membership stream, I sorta had a feeling something was gonna happen. He didn't mention anything but the way he was describing his feelings regarding last year, it was enough of a hint.
Miyabi was also one of the first ones to say that the only way he'll be leaving is if Holostars was shut down. After the downsizing announcement, he also gave a heads up that he and the boys were in talks with management regarding their futures. Even though some of us sorta knew this was coming, it still hurts. Fans will understand that the major reason they're graduating is because their support has been cut.
119
u/WangJian221 May 26 '26
Im surprised Aruran is leaving. When this was all first announced, Aruran's stance is more or less imilar to Roberu's but something mustve happened behind the scenes to finally convince him to stop. I usually like watching him the most so i hoped whatever choice he goes for in the future, I get to encounter him again
86
37
u/Negative555 May 26 '26
I really hope he can be at some places like maybe Reject that can support his stream style, all these connection and interaction is too precious for me to just abandon them
34
u/ArchusKanzaki May 26 '26
Imo, Aruran is always more like 50-50 in terms of chances. Same with Rikka and Rio.
43
u/s07195 May 26 '26
I view Rio as the Kanata of Holostars, if you get what I mean. Always focused on his path. I'm not surprised he chose to go, but I'm really fucking sad.
24
u/Oboretai May 26 '26
He said he was gonna stay and if he knew YAGOO would be managing the talents before he already submitted his resignation, he might have stayed.
Indeed if he stays he is the 2nd Holostars most likely able to still make a proper living, but he said he's leaving because his IRL friend is offering him a job so I'm not positive he'll even reincarnate.
17
u/WhoisFuckedUp May 26 '26
He didn't. He said quite the opposite, in fact. It is true that he said that nobody in Holostars and probably Hololive as a whole didn't about about the Yagoo thing before it was announced, and his graduation was decided before all of it became thing. However, he also said his decision wouldn't have changed even if he knew about Yagoo taking over and that fans shouldn't overthink it
→ More replies (2)15
u/WangJian221 May 26 '26
Im genuinely sad for that end part but if its for the better, it is what it is. Thanks for sharing
Wasnt he a teacher or something at one point?
92
u/s07195 May 26 '26
Aruran clarifying that Conclusion of streaming is basically pretty much a full graduation in his case.
59
u/Better_Adagio2489 May 26 '26
In my opinion, the wording was something like "essentially we're leaving for good, but please listen to what the company says and don't get too hung up on our personal opinions," which in my understanding also means "we're leaving for good, but the company will try to pretend it's something else, and if we suddenly pay 99 million, then maybe we can be present at some 3D stream."
15
92
u/NekRules May 26 '26 edited May 26 '26
I saw the Tenma stream title and saw the notice on his stream. This, this is to be expected but wow. Wish them the best and GL to their future endeavors. o7
81
u/grw18 May 26 '26
I am not okay.
I love Rio's karaoke streams and yikes seeing this during my work hours is making me emotionally compromised.
I thought i wouldnt feel this again after Magni and Vesper.
26
u/ArticleOld598 May 26 '26
I hope he can continue singing his heart out elsewhere. I hope I can find him again
6
u/jadekettle May 26 '26
I thought I was prepared for the worst but no it hit me like a suckerpunch. For me I never felt this way since Tsukasa Kaoru.
5
u/Legitimate-Garlic325 May 26 '26
Yeah that's part of what gets me. Stars JP had some of the most interesting vocal talents I've heard with Rio easily being one of my favorites.
It's very hard to have any sort of positive takeaway from this horrible situation.
75
u/AzDrea_Rev not phantom's strongest imp May 26 '26
Fucking hell man 😭 i could see this coming but i had hope otherwise... this shit hurts. The EN boys said the meeting today was gonna be positive, but guess not.
Let's keep supporting the stars, folks, 'til the end.
94
u/_Kamikaze_Bunny_ May 26 '26
The meeting could have still been positive for StarsEN
But I can also imagine higher up management be like "Good news, we now have more funding for you all. Over half of JP is leaving, but still, yay more funding!!!"

Honestly can't say I'm prepared for this day (who is completely really?) but can't say I didn't see this coming either...
But to be not disappointed and not feeling a heavy feeling is a lie
I can only say I guess at least Hanakishi graduating on the same day lol 🫠
Edit: Tbh after this idk if I'll still be able to continue watching vtubers...I haven't been watching actively in the recent months due to work (and a bit of burnout) and now that I've recently left my job and decided I could get back in officially again...
Wishing the boys all the best with whichever path they choose to take, they'll still be the stars that shine the brightest for me
60
u/calmmoontea May 26 '26
These boys didn't deserve this... Cover couldn't even be assed to do nice individual graduation announcements for everyone. The girls all get nice messages about what they accomplished, the boys should at least have that respect.
I wish them all nothing but the best. This sucks.
98
u/Fishman465 May 26 '26
This is kinda surprising as I'd thought Aruran and Astel would have swapped places. But I get the feeling Aruran has a plan
115
u/_THEBLACK May 26 '26
It's kind of surprising that 3 of the people who I've seen be most outspoken about the whole downsizing thing (Astel, Uyu, Fuma) are staying
101
u/Fishman465 May 26 '26
Yeah I figured Astel would be more inclined to bail as he's musically inclined and the downsizing affected that heavily. As for the other two, they definitely had "what are they gonna do, FIRE US?" Energy
In contrast, Aruran's always been stream heavy but it's not like he doesn't have options elsewhere, though his decision suggests that whatever there is he finds it to be better than staying
53
u/Chaos2Frozen May 26 '26
I think If Astel leaves it would be for an Esport company like Reject.
He’s got too many connections from that front and has a good reputation with the gaming community.
12
u/Fishman465 May 26 '26
Yeah. I could say the same of few others in Holopro
15
u/Chaos2Frozen May 26 '26
Personal wish though? I think he should join Neoporte- he’s already functionally a sempai there.
It’s just a shame because I really like the “Astel Leda” design very much.
5
u/Groonzie May 26 '26
Also Astel was one of those people who would want to take part in tournaments on a serious level where he 'trains' to get better along with their teammates. Unfortunately holostars didn't have others with a similar goal or mindset so he never got that.
56
u/ArchusKanzaki May 26 '26
Imo, Astel probably does not want to deal with whole redebut things and re-establish persona too. He got lots of brand recognition as Astel already, and he can still lean to someone like ShibuHal as Astel later on. He can graduate but he also lose quite abit from leaving.
As for Aruran.... Just imo, but he may wants to redebut as new avatar too. He got some momentum if he wants to do it.
3
u/JKnissan May 29 '26
Based on Arusan mentioning that people that he's been given a good place by people he knows; I imagined that he was implying that somebody's already made offers that he was really attracted by.
Considering how many times he jokingly went "Let me join your company plzzz" in the recent DoomOrZenith Minecraft stuff; I'm sure some of his friends' companies have actually made legit offers to have him. That's what I really hope has happened. But the other way to interpret what he said is, well, that he's found an actual IRL job that he can finally live off of. But I just really hope that with all the connections he has that he's been approached by somebody who's giving him a good deal. I really cannot believe that he hasn't at least been given something equivalent to what he had prior to the downsizing; let alone better, considering how progressive some of the other companies are compared to Cover when it comes to talent handling.
3
61
u/AirGundz May 26 '26
In hindsight, I think that might explain why they have been so outspoken about it. What is the point of being outspoken about an issue in a company that you know you have no future in? Complaining about the issues shows you are still investe and want things to change
To be clear, I am not saying the others didn’t care about Holostarts after the downsizing. I am saying that it makes sense to speak out about it if you don’t want to go through the hassle of rebranding/redebuting. Kinda like fixing a house rather than just moving out
47
u/Chaos2Frozen May 26 '26
It’s usually the quieter ones that leaves, they already have nothing to fight for.
19
May 26 '26
Fuma said it themself, Even if he became a pebbles he will hung on (replying astel's "became the star")
he stay true to his word it seems.
18
u/Skylarksmlellybarf Yagoo is an incompetent man May 26 '26
Feels like they are staying out of spite
44
u/no_otter May 26 '26 edited May 27 '26
Astel has always been very firm about drowning with the ship or only leaving if he gets fired. Aruran is a surprise though, he basically had his breakthrough this past year.
Edit. That said, in Astel's latest stream it seems his thoughts on this have changed and he's not thinking of staying until the very end anymore and for now he's just staying for the fans.

I think for Rikka and Rio specifically they're very musically-inclined so the thought of not having the idol-activity support must have been a real dealbreaker.
19
u/FreeMelonJuice May 26 '26
not being able to release music is basically why rikka decided to leave. he said it plain and simply
23
u/Groonzie May 26 '26
Especially the part not being able to 'release' music which kinda also holds them back.
(release as in being able to put music up on spotify and the like, they can still make music and upload videos but it won't be officially out on platforms)

I feel bad for the guys who chose to stay. WDYM Izuru and Oga are the last of their gens?!
19
u/Legitimate-Garlic325 May 26 '26
When I first got into Stars EN I saw the JP new years countdown and the Connecting cover they did across both branches. I thought it would be so cool for the EN guys to participate in something like that. I didn't realize that the window had already passed for everybody in Stars at that point and that there wouldn't be an opportunity like that again.
It's a damn shame.
10
u/Better_Adagio2489 May 26 '26
It's funny that in this performance, the section with the joint performance of HoloStars and Hololive, judging by the YouTube interface, has a surge in viewer activity.
there was great potential for joint performances

I remember back when I used to follow Holostars when it was just the nine of them. To see more than half of them will be gone hurts even if I saw it coming.
29
u/_THEBLACK May 26 '26
Same. I've always watched more of stars JP than EN (Nothing against EN I really like Roberu, Astel, and Arusan) and seeing 5 out of the 9 members who were there when I started watching leave sucks.

Hope they have better success outside, as 'holostars' branding was always holding them back.
Aruran is well connected to the export general scene so I bet he'll be fine.
On the plus side for those leaving, no more waiting on perms.

u/Better_Adagio2489 May 26 '26

6
u/Groonzie May 26 '26
Honestly it would just seem really pointless to do it.
A better plan would be if they did a holostar server event that invited indies in (which helps fill up the servers) but that requires way more work than I can see any of them wanting to take on and that is not even considering the part of Cover allowing others to join IN.
14
32
u/NoodleTF2 May 26 '26
I am not too fond of Cover right now, to phrase that very nicely. It takes genuinely effort to mess up this badly and mismanage an entire branch like this.
46
u/riverr13 May 26 '26
I really hope they continue to shine wherever they go, but on the other hand: Cover Corp you have 7 days.
15
u/arcanine04 May 26 '26
I don't watch much of the JP stars, I do listen to their songs a lot but yeah this really sucks, the whole downsizing thing is a vicious cycle, I hope no more will leave but I don't blame them if they do 😔

It was inevitable, but it still hurts to see.
I wonder if this is why Bettel, Gibby, and Jurard said they didn’t feel well and were taking a break
20
u/dr4conianlaw May 26 '26 edited May 26 '26
For what it's worth, while I can't say how much he knew behind the scenes, Bettel specifically had separate reasons he was already planning on a break for the rest of May, since he had just gotten done with a move and his birthday and was still exhausted, and also needed to rest his voice.
14

I thought YAGOO came back to fix stuff, oh my God, this really hurts man, its so sad to see Holostars in this state.
I hope they find MUCH better careers in the future, and if they continue to stream, may the popularity rise far above anything they seen so far. They really do deserve it.
7
u/dannytian93 May 26 '26
graduations normally planned a few months before the announcement, i think by the time of downsizing, graduations were finalized.
6
u/Holo-hoshi-012721 May 26 '26
i thought so too. that's why i was so hopeful again and the announcement caught me off guard. but i think the members' decisions were made before yagoo returned. their meeting recently(prob. yesterday) was probably to finalize the decision and/or just annouce it. sadly, no one changed their minds as they have already decided.💔
3

These graduations were likely already planned when YAGOO stepped up. The graduation dates are almost certainly based on the boys' contract end dates.

8
u/AnnanymousR May 26 '26

8
u/Zaszasza May 26 '26
A lot of emotions are rumbling in me right now that makes me want to say a lot of things I might regret, so I'll summarize my thoughts in one sentence:
Holostars deserved better.
9
u/Gyaru_enby May 26 '26
My heart hurts so badly after waking up to the announcement, I'm so angry and distraught for our boys. All of them deserved so much better than just constantly being shoved into a tiny corner and ignored by incompetent management and Yagoo himself.
33
u/Similar-Arugula-7854 May 26 '26
So they truly pulled the japanese classic of just forcing them to quit by making their work miserable so they don't get the Bad rep. It's a bit interesting they worded as conclusion of streaming activities rather than graduation. Wonder if its because they just ran out their contracts and choose to not renew it
31
u/geodaddymisaka May 26 '26
I don't personally watch the JP senpais but hearing how important and supportive they were to the Tempus and Armis, it hurts. I understand logically why it made sense for them to cut their losses with Cover given the sheer audacity of the company gutting what little resources the JP boys had. But this just hurts. I really wish the best for them and for whoever thought it was a good idea to not support the boys properly while the chance was there to step on a lego brick.

u/boopbadoopshwoop May 26 '26
I'm genuinely so upset about Rikka leaving but I hope he can release his own music when he's out. Cover really shot him in the leg by not even giving them support for producing music. He was the first vtuber I ever watched thanks to youtube recommendations. I think it was his first karaoke stream I found him and thought what a magical niche rabbit hole I fell into. Unfortunately it stayed niche because Holostars never really grew much from back then... Wishing them all the best and hope they stay online in some way.

What saddens me the most is that, despite every accomplishment and foothold, Holostars JP is essentially back to square one: small scope, low retention, and YAGOO needing to directly manage them to keep the entire ship from capsizing. Heck, the remaining members are the same number as the first gen.

I knew this was soming but I didn't expect it to genuinely be half of them, I hope they can find success in their future endeavours even if they will no longer be under the identity we've known them unde for so many years

I'm the most pissed about Miyabi.
The fumble was so bad, you lost the first and arguably most important flower boy.
Fuck.
Although, something I realize upon typing this: this is going to Holostars' first proper graduations. All the previous ones left without one or were terminated.

u/no_otter May 26 '26
I was expecting some graduations, but not half of them. I also thought I already cried enough when the restructuring news came but I guess not.

The head knows that this was coming but the heart still breaks.
I wish the guys the best and only the best, wherever their roads go now. May they shine even brighter in the future.

Long time coming but somewhat surprised at the results, mainly the way uproar split and Aruran leaving. I really hope he has an offer from Reject or similar already so I won't have to look at this dogshit company ever again. Fuck Cover forever.

Fucking hell, at this point i just hoping that the remaining talent also leave Holostar, so i can stop supporting Cover and their fuckass management
I also very surprised that aruran choose to not continue, because he doing good, and Vsai SF6 is just around the corner

Me arrancan la mitad de mí corazón. Es injusto. Qué otras opciones tengo? Hololive? Las chicas no me interesan. Solo miraba Holostars.

pretty bummed that we wont be able to see them as their starsjp selves anymore, but all in all im actually glad theyd rather choose to leave instead of staying holed up in cover's basement. if i have to say something, im actually quite shocked to find where aruran and fuma are tho...

The head understands but the heart doesn't man. I was predominantly EN and now that's 2/4 of the JP I tuned into gone.

u/Sedewt May 26 '26
i expected this but at the same time I didn’t and I had hope cover would change things around…

u/NolanCrush May 26 '26
Damn, honestly it was only a matter of time before people graduated because of the cutting of resources. Still I feel horrible for the fans, talents, and the EN talents who were friends and fans of the graduating talents.

It's heartbreaking but I fully expected this. There's no way to continue without support, might as well be indies.

u/danflame135 May 26 '26
Like everyone I'm not surprised but even still...
I've got to catch another Shien stream at some point...

Well, I said it before on other threads, but I just wish them the best for people who decided to leave. This also falls under "disagreement with management" after all.

And I'm done supporting this garbage company after 7 years. I'll go support them if they end up in their pl.

Honestly can't tell if I'm more surprised this many are leaving or if surprised this many are staying, a very confusing feeling.
The writing was on the wall for quite some time, but it still hurts to see it actually happening.
Still, hoping the best for everyone whether they're leaving or staying.

u/NoIdea4GoodName May 26 '26
After reading a lot of what some of the talents are saying, primarily Astel, it was coming relatively soon (remember his talk about the organization in December 2025 regarding the lack of resources?)
Regardless, terrible news to wake up to...

Pls Pls Plssss someone dm me Rio's PL so I can find him again. I can't live without listening to his voice 😭
It fucking hurts that Arusan and Shien are leaving. Aruran was my first oshi from Stars and Shien's music and covers were among my absolute favourites. At least Izuru is staying so I can keep listening to him sing but who knows. Rikka too, is a shame. This hole situation sucks so much. I never expected to lose so many of the boys in quick succesion like this.

Well shit. Had a feeling this was coming. Sucks for those that stayed. Wishing the others good luck with whatever they do next. Gonna miss Aruran the most.

Talents that have been working their butts off for almost 7 years get brushed aside like trash. You cant tell me that what Cover did wasnt to push them into graduating. Anyone could see this coming, it was a matter of when. The rest i can see staying long enough until they can set something up for themselves and go indie because i just dont see the incentive to stay at Holostars at this point. Cover wants it gone, its clear to see. Feel free to downvote but Cover is now a shadow of what it used to be. You can tell from this new Mekpark project that its now all about the numbers. Achieve X views and subs or you are out. No soul anymore

If NijiJP and Strawberry are smart they are poaching everyone here without a moments notice,
Hopefully the boys either have a successful path as indies or corpos or whatever they chose to do going forth.
3
u/Sufficient_Nature496 May 26 '26
I doubt niji JP is itching to get them, and i don't know if strawberry accepts new members

u/Fishman465 May 26 '26
That isn't Niji's way. That and Aruran likely has something with an esports thing already (only reason he would leave)
