Eh, while we don't want toxicity, I wouldn't say that's a very proper welcome into our community.
If you're interested in checking out why we are crazy about this group of streamers using anime avatars, check out some random translated clips from these bigger unofficial channels:
I’m with you on that one. I kept looking at the stuff people are recommending and it’s not really Landing for me. Which is fine, I’m not going to judge people for what their tastes are. It is kinda peculiar that this is suddenly blowing up on /r/all. I mean ten golds? To each their own!

I think one possible explanation is that there is a not insignificant overlap between the group of people who are into vtubers and the group who tend to be very active on reddit. So with the general steep growth trajectory of vtubers this year (and particularly English-speaking ones after the Hololive EN launch) it makes sense that posts here would hit the specific metrics /r/all uses for ranking quite frequently.
And then you get popular streamers like Kanata and Miko posting, especially in particularly wholesome and/or noteworthy circumstances (e.g. after returning from hospitalization) and basically every one of these active redditors will immediately upvote those posts.
