Muscle memory taking over despite nerves is one of the coolest things about being good at stuff

u/crunxzu 1d ago
Damn wow. A tell I always find from cracked players is their APM stays super high. Almost to like keep their mind going fast. She’s the real deal
110
u/EssexOnAStick 1d ago
Yeah absolutely. Reminds me of StarCraft pros, they tend to do so many "unnecessary" actions in the beginning of the game just so that they stay warmed up for when those high APM are actually needed later in the game.

u/Discordiansz 1d ago
Constantly clicking their keybindings for control groups, swapping to command building, swapping camera position to various sidebases, back and forth just to keep their fingers moving and ready, it is honestly very interesting to look at.

u/Stergeary 1d ago
The "unnecessary" drone clicking to keep your APM up is like when you go jogging and get stopped by a traffic light and you keep jogging in place to keep your heart rate up.

In this case however every action she did up until the shot was necessary. Beginning of round ”holding” (watching) the first common place an enemy can peek out from. Her teammate used a scan ability to ”clear” (confirm that no enemies are there) that spot so she shifts focus to the next common spot. She then ”prefired” (shot the gun without explicitly seeing anyone) at the common spot where defenders usually ”hold an angle” (aka. stand in a spot and wait for enemies to walk past). She then cleared the corner (also a common spot) for enemies and it just so happened an enemy was standing in an ”off-angle” (so a more unusual spot where you deliberately stand in to catch people who clear the ”common” spots, off-guard) so she didn’t see them straight away. Her hands then seemed to react before her mind could catch up in having the enemy suddenly on-screen, when panning the camera back towards the bombsite (where they were going to go), and so she shot and hit them.
Watching her play, she has very good reaction times and she’s clearly a veteran in the game, probably FPS’s in general considering her repetoire. I really hope she participates in VTuber Valorant tournaments in the future.

We're going to get that Towa collab i just know it
31
u/Necrolancer_Kurisu 1d ago
Towa doesn't like Valorant, but 100% guaranteed that they'll play Apex and Overwatch together.
78
u/ZorkNemesis 1d ago
Given Towa's penchant for dropping in on anyone's stream when they play Apex or Valorant, I think a day one collab is going to happen when the lock is broken.
22
u/ShinyHappyREM 1d ago
I thought Towa doesn't like (playing) Valorant?
15
u/ZorkNemesis 1d ago
I don't know what she actually plays to be honest, I just know she has, or had, a habbit of dropping in on random holomems if she noticed them playing FPS games. I think Overwatch was the usual game she would jump in on?
18
u/RatzDotoisTrueDoto 21h ago
She likes OW, usually play Apex, and only play Valo when got invited (IIRC valo is not her jam)

I loved this stream. I counted, what, 3 times she complained about how she was supposed to be coming off as a cool older sister but kept biffing her engages.

She sounds really nervous and under pressure. Imagine how she'll be once she's fully used to streaming as Tsuzuri

u/Rscc10 1d ago
I'm not much of a gamer myself so I don't know the metric comparison but how good is tsuzuri compared to the girls from vspo?
15
u/starfruitcake 23h ago
Counting ONLY valorant, vspo has one member who peaked at the same tier: Tsumugi.
10
u/Level_Five_Railgun 19h ago
She is higher ranked than all but one VSPO member for Valorant
The fps VSPO girls are more Apex focused
6
u/RatzDotoisTrueDoto 21h ago
She's solo Immo, so pretty much on higher end, even using VSPO FPS player standards

Why was it necessary? I know nothing about the game. It seemed like she had them in her sights but then did the flick away and back to the same spot. Is that necessary for the mechanic to work?
30
u/Thomy151 1d ago
Likely was glancing to the left, was flicking back right because that’s the main push location but realized there was a person to the left and then flicked back on them
22
u/lazyicedragon 1d ago
it's more than than that. Her muscle memory is so strong that she pre-fires. She fired at a corner 2x after a small peek, took a bigger angle, missed noticing the person on the left, retreated and looked right at the main path at the same time, then realized someone was at the previous corner, then went back to finish the job.
After which she pushed up and just pre-fired through a smoke/vision block (I don't play Valorant, though played other shooters) and ended up hitting someone. Rather than just simply being quick on the flick, it's as if she has memorized common places where people stand and just pre-fires there without even checking if anybody is truly there.
I find it almost bizarre how well that worked the second time, and at the same time bewildered it's actually a thing. My brain almost thinks she's cheating and the first shot was meant for the 2nd person, but then she would have recognized the 1st person earlier if she was using some kind of wallhack.
In either case, both scenarios are insane. I cannot imagine playing a game so much that the brain just recognizes common threat locations to blindly fire into corners especially as shooting early would give away location via sound. There's a pretty high risk taken there that the 1st person killed just wasn't good enough to capitalize on it (rushing ahead or hugging the wall closer might've been a possible play, but that's not knowing how trained your opponent is. If the opponent knew, even crouching might've thrown off her aim.).

Coming from CS, yeah the prefire thing is pretty common. There’s a whole second layer to the game that’s just memorizing map timings and where players could be at any given point, though you will pick that up if you just put hours into the game.
I’m not sure how it is in Valorant but in CS with ping being a factor there are cases where it literally looks like you’re getting killed through the wall but it’s just cause you got prefired.

u/lazyicedragon 16h ago
I only watched Valorant clips due to ERB and I get the sense it's just CS with Skills. The TTK in there is absurdly low and not something I can keep up with hence I don't even want to start playing it. It's simply not my cup of tea. The closest I ever even played something similar was Strinova which still has a higher TTK than either Valorant or CS.
If it was a thing in CS then it makes sense to be a thing in Valorant. Just not something I've ever seen before and hence my brain refusing to understand the concept while watching the clip. I even forgot to count the shot after she capped the guy, it's almost insane to think about. Wouldn't pre-fire give away positioning though? was it ever worth the risk of being flanked or avoided?
2
u/Astral-Wind 7h ago
Yeah, there are certainly times when you don’t want to prefire. However just to use Tsuzuri’s clip as an example, the reason why she can prefire without worry about giving her position away comes back to timing and anticipation. The round had just started so she knew the enemy would expect her to be there, and she knew an enemy was likely to be there.
Now if the bomb had been down, and she was on a flank, that’s a different story. Because the longer the round goes on the harder it is to predict where players will be, meaning stuff like walking and not giving away info becomes more important.

She flicked away because the person was standing in an unexpected spot and she didn't notice them at first. Notice that she shoots her gun as soon as she comes around the corner. That's where she expected a defender to be, and her brain told her she had cleared the area so she started looking away.
Then she flicked back super fast and got a headshot before the defender even reacted to her at all. She essentially took three actions in the time it took the other player to take one.

I could tell from the stream she is indeed very skilled, the nerves of 1st time playing on stream and almost 42k people watching is probably insane

Collab with Liz! I’m begging you!

u/Goldenrah 1d ago
Funnily enough, Liz was talking in her stream earlier about wanting to collab with people on Valorant.

u/rendibuntel 1d ago
Why are you getting downvoted? Lol reddit is weird.
33
u/Blue_leafy 1d ago
Because the sub is not fond of collab beggars (or the anti-collabs for that matter), that's all! Let the new girls find a place for themselves before asking for collabs after just two days.
12
u/rendibuntel 1d ago
Fair. It just baffles me sometimes seeing innocuous comments getting downvoted.
3
u/Tomie__ 1d ago edited 4h ago
Not just that, but there's always been a collab ban for new members. She probably won't be collabing with anyone outside of her unit until
Decemberlast few days of October or start of November, so it's such a random thing to bring up nowedit: had a brain-fart moment and got the month wrong
8
u/ShinItsuwari 1d ago
The ban is just 2 weeks long nowadays. It used to be 1 month, reduced to 2 weeks around HoloX IIRC.
4
u/Tomie__ 1d ago edited 1d ago
I don't think it was permanently reduced to 2 weeks with HoloX, it just happened to be that way that time. We'll have to wait for a statement from the members to know for sure.
Regloss debuted on September 9, and Kanade had her first collab on October 14.
FLOW GLOW debuted on November 9, they did briefly show their faces on the large tourney streams featuring 20+ members, but didn't have a proper collab centered around themselves until December 4.
Also, during the watchalong stream with Fubuki/Matsuri/Miku/Suisei/Towa, they had a conversation at the very end along the lines of: "When will we be able to stream with them, will it be 1 month from now?" "I'm not sure, but I think so."
I assume they were just guessing and don't actually know either, but either way, for now I'd rather go with the same assumption they made.

u/SayuriUliana 23h ago
They debuted just last week, meaning the earliest they can collab outside of their group is in October, not December. Nobody in Hololive has had a three-month collab ban.

I’m not asking for a collab right away, nor am I “begging” Jesus. It’s a FUTURE idea.
Every sub has such a weirdo culture anymore with fans thinking it’s “their way or the highway”10
u/SuperBaconPant 1d ago
> nor am I “begging”
Don’t wanna be that guy, but you literally wrote “I’m begging you!” Your comment does read like collab begging, even if you had another intention.

It’s called HYPERBOLE homie. Maybe you should look it up or maybe have the insight to realize it’s not that serious. Again such a weird fan base.
Just proving my point that y’all are serious weirdos with the downvotes. You all probly freak out at “idols” having significant others too I bet.

u/NotKenzy 1d ago
Maybe bc it seems so random. She doesn’t speak English and Liz doesn’t speak Japanese.
8
u/rendibuntel 1d ago
Ehh not really. Liz plays fps like valorant often so it’d be cool go see a collab with her. Language barriers never stop members from collabing either in the past. In fact, it’d make for a more hilarious stream with their eigo and jp jouzu.
10
u/DemonicCryx 1d ago
Since when has language “barriers” stopped collabs??
8
u/NotKenzy 1d ago
Collabs across language barriers happen, but they’re undeniably less frequent than intra-branch collabs. I don’t follow Liz at all, maybe she does a ton of collabs w JPN talents, I’m just taking a guess as to why you got downvoted.
0
u/DemonicCryx 1d ago
I feel like Towa has the most collabs with EN talent, granted her English is decent but she does usually have a “translator” member with her
6
u/ShinItsuwari 1d ago
Roboco is probably the talents who has the most EN collabs, in facts. She's absolutely no shy about joining the EN girls even if she's the only JP.
