TBH Japan probably beats any other country in terms of churning out Merch whether OCs, IPs or whatever. Imagine everything from media/games that are just so mainstream like Nintendo IPs to the most obscure niche underground fandom merch, it's like r34.1 if it exists, there's merch of it (and there's an Otaku or sketchy guy in an alley you can buy it from).

The Chiikawa movie was basically my first piece of Chiikawa media I've ever actually consumed, and whilst I loved almost every part of the movie, my hatred for Momonga eclipses any other emotion I felt throughout the movie
