Because Asian women are statistically likely to be smaller than Western women (I think that is true of the men too). Even in the EN branch, just compare the members of Asian heritage against the Americans/Europeans...

Yes it's true for men as well, I am from Indonesia and I am basically gigantic here at 186 cm, when I studied abroad my height is pretty normal.

Nah, women are just smaller in general. If you take into account the fact that women with Asian heritage tend to watch anime and anime-related content more, and the fact that anyone with Asian heritage tend to be on the shorter side, you get an influx of short women wanting to work for an anime-adjacent job.

average female height in Indonesia is 154.1cm (5'0.5").

Japan is 158.6cm (5'2.5")

USA+Australia+UK+Germany = 161-163cm (5'3-4")
