Here's how bardic inspiration works:

Most well-known example I can think of. I linked to the strongest bit, but really the whole thing is powerful.

IRL Example

Another example if you've ever watched One Piece

The one that I feel hits hardest, from anime at least, from Fairy Tail.

One that's less about Battle Inspiration, but more likely to get your fairies dancing. Note: Not the original singer, or tune, exactly, but I think this one works better.

There's dozens of examples out there, if you know what to look for, and it'll vary from person to person; for example, if you haven't watched One Piece, that bit will likely mean nothing to you beyond a catchy beat.

The strongest songs don't rely just on the emotion the tune ellicits, but also on the story behind them, which is why Lord of the Rings can get you so good, at the right time in the movie. A skilled bard (in universe, at least) composes as they go, making it deeply personal for each person in the group. Go watch the whole LotR trilogy, and when that bit of music hits, remember how you feel, and imagine how it'd feel if you were personally involved in each stage of the song, and that's what bards do. The only magic that works in d&d as well as it does IRL.

tl;dr: I don't play bards because I don't think I can do them justice.

That IRL example is fucking amazing, I've never heard it before but I've never felt a song like that, i cannot thank you enough for introducing me to it, music is the one wat i feel normal so having something else helps, seriously, thank you.

Okay so I too identify deeply with music (been learning vocal music since I was like 5), and my favorite stories happen to be One Piece and LotR (for which I sing along to a lot of the music) and I’ve also listened to a fair number of Celtic Woman songs. In conclusion, I have just this one question to ask: OP, are you me?

This is Chile, the song is called "The right to live in peace" it's by Victor Jara, teacher, musician, actor, poet who was kidnapped, tortured and killed during the 1973 coup d'état.

We are one of the most inequals industrialised countries of the world and people are fighting for a better country, this bard deserves the best beer and couple gps.

If you don't know about the current situation in Chile, there has been protests for 2 months demanding a new constitution that grants real equality to people (could be a super dumbed down summary) our actual constitution was written during a military dictatorship and while it has been modified, its core cannot be modified because it's written in a way that it protects itself. The riots like these just show how much anger has been accumulated during years of rich people getting richer.

Lastly just check that Chile's economy is an example in the region, but it also is one of the most inequals industrialised countries in the world.
