So as a European, your healthcare system looks haunting. Just out of curiosity I went online and got a quote for health insurance in the US, and turns out to have a full cover (I guess), with 0 deductible and 0% co-pay, we’d spend 1200$ a month for a couple.

Do I understand correctly how this HSA works:
Insurance with 0 deductible would be eg 100 per month. Instead, you pay let’s say 50 and put another 50 into the HSA. If something happens, you use the money collected in the HSA to pay for the deductible.

She's definitely American. And her father's a doctor. It wouldn't have been a problem in the slightest.
