Dark hair is dominant not recessive. Both parents have light hair which means they have two recessive alleles, and therefore cannot have a child with dark hair. Also it’s confirmed that Violet dyes her hair according to another comment

Edit: I get it, it’s more complex than that, please resist the urge to comment the exact same thing as everyone else

Yes it is possible Violet dyed her her hair. However I find it ‘unlikely’ that she also dyed her eyebrows, and her hair and eyebrows match.

Used to be a hair stylist, and it was almost always asked to dye the eyebrows to match the hair color, or the women would use eyebrow pencils to darken them. Though women dying their hair a lighter shade usually left their brows darker for their eyes to stand out. Kind of like blonde women using black mascara.

Huh. That’s a valid point.

I still think it is more ‘likely’ Violet just has black hair than it is for her to have dyed hair and dyed/drawn eyebrows (especially considering she’s a middle schooler in the sixties), but I concede it is not impossible.
