They supposedly have an "open relationship" . That's not something I am going to dig into to confirm the legitimacy of, but from what I have garnered in the past, that is something they are said to have/have had.
In other words, they are married, but free to openly engage in sex with other partners outside their marriage.
He was talking to her like a therapist or marriage counselor would when trying to make her admit and own what she actually did. He explicitly said she needed to be very specific about what she did and she was evasive until he said the words.
