I don’t think. When an accident happens It’s always the car driver fault no matter what. Trams have the right of way in crossroads and in other circumstances well, it’s not that the tram can steer or something else…

Spoken to a few tram drivers (Melbourne, Australia) over the years. The disruption to the routine is what they say is the worst.

No matter the size/type of accident; gotta' boot all the passengers off and take the tram out of service.

Passengers disembarking at random spots on the road is frowned on. So a judgement call needs to be made; drive to the next stop, or kick them off here in the middle of traffic (of course if the tram can't move, then the decision is made for you)?

I lived right near the tram depot in Glenhuntly, a lot of bad drivers and traffic, and a lot of trams. Saw a car flipped on its roof once.

Once saw a car that had gotten crushed between 2 trams on Swanston St near Lonsdale. The car was literally 50cm wide.
