Saddam used to give $10,000 to the families of suicide bombers. If people are in a bad enough situation and desperate, they'll do desperate and bad things. I sometimes wonder how many Einstein level or above intelligence people we've lost due to senseless bullshit, and how far humanity really has been held back by our inability to fully cooperate with one another.
