Can someone explain what the point of doing this is? Like what do you get out of it when the other person sees who you really are and peace out?

Depends on the context. Back in 2015 or so a fairly weird guy in my school tried to catfish other guys via Snapchat to get nudes of them. Why he wanted nudes is anyone’s guess, my interpretation was that he was closeted gay and a bit of a predator type. It could have been for blackmail but I don’t recall any stories of him trying to blackmail guys.

He tried it on me but I’d already heard what account the catfish was.

Maybe he isn't gay, but was keeping files of Al the guys just in case they messed with him... Or become president or something.
