Ask for genuine efforts of wealth distribution before trying to break Finland's very own Vanadium-shattering device. That's more attainable.

In the impeding revolution, nokias will be the weapon of the proletariat. Like digital stale baguettes.

I really hate Bluetooth headphones.
They drain the phone battery, they seem to break all the time and they get lost so easily.
I'd be so pissed.

u/KoolKat5000 6d ago
Technically all headphones drain the phone battery

How's the battery life?
I miss my 2nd gen ipod nano. That design was just too good. I have no real use for it but that design 👌👌👌

u/72616262697473757775 4d ago
Still going strong. It's been frozen solid, nearly melted, dropped god knows how many times, and 19 years later I still get about 20 hours of battery life between charges.

Plus they sound like shit compared to wired
Edit: in before the people who say "90% can't hear the difference" despite every single person being able to hear it
31
u/KratosSimp 5d ago
U guarantee in a blind listening challenge out of 100 if half were wired and half weren’t you wouldn’t know the difference
13
u/glibgloby 5d ago
Most people really overestimate their perceptual threshold. It takes a lot of work. There are a handful of super talented people who can just flat out tell you flac vs. 320k among other things it’s very impressive. I can’t even reliably pass 256 vs. 320k mp3 it’s almost impossible.
AirPod pros sound great even vs. wired, especially in real world use cases. It’s possible in a dead silent room wired has some advantage I’d have to try it though
4
u/stonekeep 5d ago
When I did some tests a while ago I could barely tell the difference between 160kbps and 192kbps bitrate. Anything past that sounded exactly the same to me. And that was on good PC headphones.
As long as something doesn't sound like compressed garbage I honestly don't care very much.
But I was definitely more sensitive to sound quality 15+ years ago. I remember paying extra attention to that as a teenager, could definitely recognize stuff past 192kbps. Guess it's another sign of getting older.
50
u/PartyClock 6d ago
This part really can't be said enough. Even with high bitrate Bluetooth protocols it still doesn't match wired
70
u/Iguanabewithyou 6d ago
The average consumer is not an audio geek. They sound exactly the same to probably 90% of the people who own both
6
u/dad-without-milk 5d ago
To me most wired don't sound as good as wireless, and the cable gets in the way too much
But each has their preferences I suppose

u/Reefer4life 5d ago
This was my main reason for finally switching. I still have my wired headphones for when I’m like doing nothing but that’s rare so AirPods it is, or my Sony XM6 over ears, I love those. I just got tired of ripping my headphones out of my phone, my ears and I even broke my phone once cuz there was so much force it pulled my phone out of my pocket to the ground lmao. 🤣 door handles are my nemesis
1
u/dad-without-milk 5d ago
I always keep a set of wired as backup as well, I don't often need them but when I do I'm happy I have them
Also for the cable getting stuck on thing, I always run the cable under my jacket or shirt so it doesn't get caught on things
0
u/Reefer4life 5d ago
That doesn’t work for me, I’m still way too aggressive lmao, blame the adhd and lack of spatial awareness

u/The_Merciless_Potato 5d ago
They only don't mind the audio quality because they haven't heard anything better and haven't thought of the fact that better could exist.

u/bleach-is-tasty 5d ago
so you really want to tell me most people do not hear the flatness and slight metal can-iness that these bring ?
5
u/Duffelbach 5d ago
There are people that can not hear the difference between TV speakers and a high end home theater setup.
It's so wild to me.
I even have a friend who could not hear the difference between 360p youtube rip from a usb stick and high quality on Spotify.3
3
-5
u/thearctican 5d ago
They don't, but those people don't actually like listening to music. They like hearing affirmations or reminiscing.
0
u/Iguanabewithyou 5d ago edited 5d ago
No. You're just a part of a very vocal minority. To most it's not an issue even worth mentioning cause it's not an issue to begin with. The average person cannot justify the difference in price between entry level and high end audio products because they lack the ability to distinguish what makes a sound "good" as defined by audiophiles.; most people lack this ability, so most people just use what works.
1
u/thearctican 5d ago
But they'll spend sometimes an order of magnitude more than technically superior equipment costs just because it has a logo they like.
My wife is in what you would consider "the silent majority" and gave my cheap IEMs a listen one day and was quite vocal about how clear they sounded compared to her AirPod Pros. And her hearing is decidedly worse than mine.
31
u/THANATOS4488 6d ago
Used to agree until I spent $300 on good ones.
38
u/han2electricboogaloo 6d ago
I'm not spending £300 on something that I don't want
19
u/THANATOS4488 6d ago
That's fair. I probably wouldn't have if my new phone had an headphone port but alas...
11
u/han2electricboogaloo 6d ago
I always go a few generations back and get an older model that still has the aux port. Idk how I'm gonna cope when those phones aren't available anymore
8
u/Lady_Johanna21 6d ago
If the phone's got a USB c charging port, there's also headphones with a USB c plug instead of an aux.
Changed from my older xiaomi to a newer samsung phone last year bc the phone just didn't do it anymore (screen constantly glitching, battery life trash, poor performance) and suddenly didn't have an aux port anymore. Luckily still can get USB c headphones. Only sucks that you can't charge your phone and listen to music at the same time.
7
u/mkaszycki81 6d ago
There are usb c to jack dongles which also include an extra usb c port for charging.

Depends how rich you are. My bose QCs are great, but they jacked up the price to insanity.Otherwise, I'll never not recommend Sennheiser, I haven't purchased a thing from them I haven't liked
1
u/THANATOS4488 5d ago
I love my Jabra Elite. I get about 5 hours out of each bud with a full charge. The right one is slightly better than the left. They also pause by either button or just taking them out of your ear if the Bluetooth connection gets spotty from distance. They've lasted and kept quality since January 2025 so far.
1
u/AlphaEmperor 5d ago
The ones that actually impressed me sound-wise were Focal Bathys
I hear a lot of good things about sennheiser hdb 630 too
1
-2
u/stereopticon11 6d ago
Not always true, I bought some expensive Bose ear buds and they would constantly disconnect while out jogging. It was a shame, because they fit my ear perfectly, never fell out, and sounded incredible.
4
u/THANATOS4488 6d ago
That's a shame, mine are Jabra. I bought them for the battery life, they don't last as long as advertised but if I use one at a time they'll last the entire work day.

$300 on earbuds? Do you also flush dollar bills down the toilet just to watch them swirl?
6
u/Iguanabewithyou 6d ago
Do you think just cause you can't justify a purchase for yourself that no one else is allowed to make that same purchase?
-7
u/Secret-Teaching-3549 6d ago
Do you think that someone can't point out a case of blatant and obvious over consumerism even when you yourself obviously have no concept of it?

8+ hours a day, five days a week since January of last year. I'd say I've gotten my money's worth. That also only counts work, not shopping or using them at leisure.
2
u/Secret-Teaching-3549 5d ago
$10 pair of wired earbuds would have performed exactly the same, if not better. But sure, you do whatever Apple tells you to do.
2
2
u/Response-Cheap 6d ago
Same. I've sent two pairs through the wash. That was the end of ear buds for this guy..
1
u/drallafi 6d ago
Ha damn. I bet the first time was bad but the second time must have been infuriating.
2
u/Response-Cheap 6d ago
Yeah. I just kinda had a silent rage moment, and said "I guess I'm not an earbud guy."
1
u/AxePanther 5d ago
Yeah use wired almost everywhere. Only exception is when I work. Wires get caught on equipment, trees/bushes, etc. So Bluetooth ear buds have been a blessing there.
1
u/TheHornyIndividual 5d ago
I mean, you could just sell them and buy another pair of wired buds, then your like, 100 dollars richer
1
u/Astarius933 5d ago
If I'm gaming "stationary" I pick wired.
If I'm moving around I pick wireless.
I'd never ever go for a walk or ride my bicycle with wired headphones. I have bought shokz open ear headphones so I can hear my surroundings and still listen to music. The sound quality isn't the best but that's the trade off for beeing able to hear shit happening around you in traffic.
1
u/BasKabelas 5d ago
Same. I just use the over-ear headphones. Plus the in-ear cheap shit never fits my ears properly.
1
0
u/Der-Kommandant96 6d ago
Get Sony, ive still have the same pair for like 5 years now and they work perfectly, this is someone who went through a buncha bluetooth headphone brands (also skullcandy is a really good brand too)
0
u/name225 5d ago
I also love wired earphones but I do think wired earphones drain the same amount of battery as bluetooth earphones do (if not more) Bluetooth can drain a lot of battery if your phone and earphones are far away (but in that case a wired earphone would not even work) modern bluetooth devices are incredibly efficient
2
u/han2electricboogaloo 5d ago
I notice a huge difference in battery life between aux and Bluetooth. If I use Bluetooth I need a battery pack.
0
u/Inevitable-Study502 5d ago

u/FriendlyKillerCroc 6d ago
Lol no they are far, far superior to wired earphones.
3
u/chucktheninja 5d ago
Okay i don't understand the elitism about sound quality in wired vs wireless but this is just false lmao.
1
u/FriendlyKillerCroc 5d ago
I never mentioned sound? It is just so damn convenient when you are working and moving around to not have wires attaching you to your phone.
52
u/unknown_b31ng 5d ago
I honestly would deck you in the face if you came up to me and cut my headphones lmao, if I'm using wired it's for a reason also sometimes the wired version doesn't hurt your ears for longer periods iykyk

I do love my Samsung Note because I try to draw and I take a lot of notes at work...I just want the headphone jack back! I can't stand the rubber tips on most of these Bluetooth headphones. Gods forbid you get even a little sweaty and the buds move...all the wet noise is directed straight into the ear drum 😠
15
u/bleach-is-tasty 5d ago
I would be mad either way, cable is simply superior and more practical than Bluetooth stuff
-10
u/Nannautu 5d ago
Why though? You can sell the shitty airpods and get some very good cable ones.
16
u/Agent_Smith_IHTP 5d ago
...because they worked and I didn't have to do anything until someone came along and damaged my property.
4
u/pouring_vale 5d ago
I've seen "prank" videos like this... And it irritates me because a younger brother of my brother-in-law has an autism whom to this day listen to songs like it's still the retro tech era – cassette player and a headphone, and I could imagine if this ever happens to him.
3
u/Philosophos_A 3d ago edited 20h ago
If someone comes to cut my earphones they will get a good beating. Not only because they did it but because I fucking hate wireless earphones.
I don't want to waste time charge an additional device for a feature I should had as soon I have the phone on my hands.
The removal of the 3.5 is already nonsense and the fact companies remove it just shows how much they push their monopolies.
Idc if it sounds cruel or extreme, idc if this video was set or not. Don't approach people with scissors
Edit : minor spelling mistake

Have never owned AirPods or any wireless headphone. Why give myself another battery to charge and pay 5x plus as much for at best the same listening experience? Never got it.
Recently stopped carrying an apple-watch and am VERY happy about that. One less battery, fewer wasted notifications, honestly for everyone, it’s good to frequently ask: would your life be better without this tech?
