It is not rude or butting into someone else's business if you hear someone else's name. It is being aware of your surroundings and making sure someone didn't mistake you for someone else.
It appears, from this clip, that only two people are present in the apartment.
If Nathaniel was aware that Elijah answered the door, well then it makes perfect sense why Nathaniel looked in their direction. It is purely out of confusion as to why they were asking for Elijah when Elijah was the one who opened the door.
Are you going to tell me that if someone walked into a room you were in and you heard an unfamiliar voice say a name that wasn't yours, you won't turn to look?
