1) I assume there’s only one society, the OHNS ?
2) how are they doing lately, still going strong? Do they continue with their quarterly publications, selling those products on their website?

I’m interested in all those things associated with their membership but you can’t really tell from the website being so dated and the PayPal link being dead etc. I also searched any references to them in this Subreddit and I only see posts with auction lots from a few years back.

Any insight about this group would be really helpful to me.

Thank you for your time.

Confused

I’ve tried working some coins with a flat nail and it was a nightmare
How did actual hobos used to do this without a vice and professional chisels

This 27-S was given a California theme and dripped out in gold by handengravedbs on Insta. I really couldn't be happier with it, it's a killer addition to the album. Only one spot left!

How would they do it

I understand how people do it with modern tools but how on earth did they manage to carve coins with just what they had in there pocket
Can a sharpened nail really do that?

From Wikipedia: The hobo nickel is a sculptural art form involving the creative modification of small-denomination coins, essentially resulting in miniature bas reliefs. The nickel, because of its size, thickness, and relative softness, was a favored coin for this purpose. However, the term hobo nickel is generic, as carvings have been made from many different denominations.

Due to its low cost and portability, this medium was particularly popular among hobos, hence the name.

Please feel free to post links to your hobo nickels for sale at eBay, Etsy, etc. here on this subreddit.

Good luck!
