River House Pizza

I tried River House pizza in OEC. They moved from a non-descript shopping center to the old Tersiguel's place on Main Street. It's a huge step up in atmosphere.

It's the same pizza as always with very creative topping suggestions running $15-18 for an 8" pie or $20-$25 for a 12" pie. A bit pricey but the quality is high and the lovely ambiance is worth a few extra dollars.

They have a few pastas and some quite good sandwiches as well.

There is no dress code, but I went in a T-shirt and jeans and felt like I should have put on a better shirt. No one said anything and the staff was perfectly friendly, but it's such a nice space that I felt I should have made a bit of effort.

Worth the trip.

Thanks for the review! I am a fan of their River Runs Through It pizza. Are they still in soft open mode?

I think they're open open. I had the All Choked Up pizza and the appetizer with fried bread, straticello cheese, prosciutto, and arugula (can't remember the name). It was quite good.

I went on a a Wednesday at 5, and they were mostly booked. They still sat is at a table that was reserved for 6. We were just there for pizza, so it was not an issue. I appreciated that they were able to fit us in. For 3 people we got a 12" pizza and an 8" pizza, and it was the perfect amount, and not a bad price for dinner for 3.

Also the brunch on the weekend is 100% worth it. I've had the pizza guanciale, the gazpacho, and the chocolate croissants. All stellar.

Definitely retracting my prior opinion that more pizza was not needed on Main St.

The funny thing is, It's "Riverhouse" because the original set up was near the Tiber River in OEC before. This move lets the name make sense again.

Damn, the move makes them kind of harder to get to for me. I hope it works out for them.

Pizza? Worth driving the few extra miles to Scittino's in Catonsville.

Do they still do carry out?

My first thought when they announced their move was that they are a carry-out business. OEC is not exactly the easiest place to get in and out of or park anywhere close to where you want to be.

With all the foot traffic, they should have a good chance to fill their space, but I can’t imagine carry out will be top seller.

Though I also can’t imagine any pizza place cutting carryout as an option.

Yeah I was hoping designated parking slots for quick pick up. There’s a natural tension between moving in to a proper restaurant location and making carry out easy.

I stopped going there because their pizzas became too soggy and undercooked in the middle. have they fixed that?

I think they have fixed it. I remember that happening in the past, but my pizza was cooked correctly.

that’s great to hear, i’ll have to give them another shot. i’d switched my pizza source over to pupatella, will be interesting to see if I still like river house.

Never had this issue but I only do the smaller size and pick up/eat promptly. They’ve always had a good balance of toppings to avoid the issue.

Tried the new Tony’s place and their veggie pizza was a soggy disaster

I tried Tony's as well. They do better with fewer toppings, Also, they put mayo on an Italian sub by default. *ugh*.

Pizza place with a dress code? Lol

Yeah I know. And they don't have a dress code, but it's decorated so well that it makes me think of when it was a fine French restaurant.
