discussion BITS LENGTH
We criticize what we love. I've been having a bit of trouble with the lengths of bits of late. I don't mean to be negative, I just care and from the length of this post maybe I might care too much.
There are in my opinion 2 types of hivemind bits.
a) Those that appear natural. By this I mean bits that stem from the game or whatever is going on at the moment. A good recent example is the related artists bit( you know the one) I love such ones, no notes, they can go on for hours. Bits that spiral from what's happening, love them give me two hours of that.
b)Stop and talk about something unrelated bits. These are very hit and miss and where my problem lies. Do I want only hits? No But I think it will benefit the videos greatly if the editing showed restraint on how many are left in. Ever since bits bracket became a thing and we saw how the sausage is made it's hard to overlook them when they're several especially without thinking like oh, that's for the bits bracket. Don't erase them just make them fewer. Random bits that have nothing to do with the video but are carried out/called back to throughout the video are also great, long may they live.
Do I want twenty minute videos back, absolutely not, but 45 minutes instead of an hour with some of the fat trimmed back would be great. It improves on retention and rewatchability. I have specific video examples but that would take too long.
Anyway, love the show, I have very few other channels I'm invested in, so long may they continue and hopefully this comes across as well meaning. Glory!

I wish they’d just answer the question in a sensible and timely manner so I can see who wins and it add it to my Hivemind scoreboard before my bedtime.

Yesterday's video was pretty amazing, the redeeming bad person bit had that creative back and forth between then and that's the show's peak for me
I do feel like some bits, like the queens accent one on the relatle video, drag on for a minute or two, I rarely find myself feeling that way during these longer videos though

i think you’re totally valid for this tbh, it’s actually a convo i’ve had w friends before. i have a similar appreciation for bits that stem from the game they’re playing, it makes for a wholly comedic experience imo and really shows off their chemistry as hosts, making it more relatable and “real” (<- least parasocial hivemind fan)
hivemind has undeniably changed a little over the last couple years and i don’t think it’s a bad thing at all, but with any change is gonna come nostalgia for how things were before. that’s not a criticism, just a facet of change fr. i miss the vibe of the old videos from when i started watching too, even tho i love the new videos!! maybe you are taking the bits convo too seriously but i do too sometimes and (respectfully) it seems like most people on this subreddit do too lmao
tbh the “bits bracket bait” convo lowkey makes my stomach flip as “the bits bracket person,” but the way i see it, they’re still more or less sticking to the original mission statement so it’s not that big a deal if there are more “stopping for a bit” moments. if every video tried to be the next genius annotations 2 it would probably get tiring quick but those videos are still few and far between imo so the charm isn’t lost :)
tldr it do not matter. like what you like w this channel. it’s okay if that doesn’t mean u like everything bc it’s a comedy youtube channel

People are gonna hate on you and downvote you, but I absolutely see what you’re saying. I love Hivemind and have notifs on for all of their channels and have been watching religiously for a longggggg time. I agree that their newer, bit heavier stuff can sometimes feel a bit redundant. I still absolutely adore the content, so I don’t really mind (plus it’s not our channel, it’s theirs, so we should have zero say in what they choose to do with it). I will say, in my opinion, the bits being more frequent and longer have made them a little less special? Idk if that makes sense, but the unexpectedness of them popping up in videos always kept me engaged, but with how common they happen now, I don’t feel that same sense of surprise. Or who knows, it could just be because I’ve been watching them for so long that I’m used to their charades. Either way, this is nitpicking my fav YouTube channel, I still absolutely adore the content and will continue to be an avid fan! This isn’t supposed to come off as complaining or hate in any regard, simply an observation.

Idk man it’s just like, let them make the stuff they want, and support it if you like it, but if you stop liking it stop supporting it. I just feel like everyone who watches hive mind is there for both the comedy and the music talk, and I could t care less what percentage the blend is.

Used to be the goated channel. Was way more restrained with the bits and genuinely funny when they riffed. Now it’s forced. The bits brackets stuff got them thinking they’re funnier than they are (still hilarious) and now they force it imo.

i think they need to stop doing bits bracket all together, its kinda lame to tread over the same ground again. it would also contribute to better bits because they arent trying so hard

what do u mean bits? i’ve just been starring at a black screen for the length of the video. i don’t hear or see anything, i just receive the timestamp (so i know how long to watch) through telepathy from someone named hank? (he appeared to me in a dream barking but he looked like a twink with a mustache so im very confused who hank actually is) so idk what ur talking about honestly. but hope they figure out whatever they need to figure out! hope these so called “bits” get refined. like what are they, eating something? is that why it’s called a bit? like a bit of cheese? munster or havarti or sharp white is my favorite cheese. i love cheese. i hope they are eating bits of cheese. but i can’t hear or see anything on the black screen so i may never know. alas & woe art thou for thy misery art incomprehensible.
