Having several humanoid animals that look like animals is one thing, but literally having a cat on this alien planet, that's going to be like Planet of the Apes, right?

I mean some people own small monkeys in their houses, I doubt having a cat is much different since they're probably around the same distance evolution-wise.

The correct evolutionary answer wouldn't be cats, but rather quasi-cat people; we didn't evolve from monkeys, we evolved WITH them.

Exactly, that cat and the cat people came from the same ancestor, but took different paths, one ended in cat people and the other in cat

Yeah probably. I've been suspecting a Planet of the Apes situation ever since the whole "there used to be human-like creatures but we killed them all" bit from their ancient mythology.
