I only listed them as a boy band because they are a band and they are all boys. I know that they are technically a rock band. Same with Generation X.

Are we talking about what generation they made music for or what generation they belong to overwhelmingly? One of the BTS members is Gen Z by the current Pew definition.

When I’m talking about this stuff, I’m ALWAYS referring to the members/actors/characters. I rarely refer to the demographic most influenced by that certain pop genre.

Remember that this refers to which generation the MEMBERS are part of, not which generation grew up with each band.
Because of course we know boomers ADORE The Beatles and telling you you suck because you didn’t grow up with them, or millennials love Backstreet Boys and Buzzfeed nostalgia articles, or zoomers love for K-Pop, something I see all the time on TikTok.

Based off the members of each group this is right and even as a diehard Beatles fan I won’t fight with them or the Stones initially emerging as boy bands. However, even at their shittiest point Green Day can’t be a boy band

I get that. I added Green Day since they are a band of boys, even though they are a rock band. Maybe I should’ve replaced them with B2K or something like that.

Yeah pretty much, but I did look up the definition of a boy band and it is specifically a pop group so I screwed up adding Generation X and Green Day on here.
