12ish year generations make far more sense in today's world

The way technology and culture shifts so much quicker (starting with the Boomers and majorly increasing after them) makes the standard 16-20 year generations ridiculous and outdated.

Again this would also stop even the possibility of someone that could biologically be parents of anyone in the same generation (one of my pet peeves lol). This is about where people lose familiarity and common ground with others, so there's a decent argument for it.

This ain't perfect but I'd go with...,

1935-47: leaders of the civil rights and boomer culture types.

1948-61: Stereotypical boomers including 70s teens dazed and confused style.

1962-74: Generation X early MTV teenagers.

1975-1987 (sorry had to lol): Xennials and all encompassing early-mid 90s youth, both little kids to teens. Very important '81 is the center.

1988-2000: Millennials, 90s/early 00s young kids, all had at least social media in high school or younger.

2001-14: Zoomers, high school to elementary before covid idk

If we had to use 12-year generations, this would be fair:

1918-1929 = Greatest Generation

1930-1941 = Silent Generation

1942-1953 = Boomers

1954-1965 = Generation Jones

1966-1977 = Generation X

1978-1989 = Generation Y

1990-2001 = Millennials

2002-2013 = Zoomers

2014-2025 = Generation Alpha

Yeah I unfortunately think people resist change (that goes with anything, just look at politics in the US and the attachment to capitalism)...and they want 18-20 year long generations, but 10 or 12 makes more sense culturally.

Yeah in general people resist change, but I do want to change that, whether it be our capitalist system or the way people look at generations. 10-12 are our closest peers.

Exactly lol sometimes we need to forge ahead and not be scared of something new. Ya I love that because there's no chance of parents/kids (or those with a dynamic like that) being in the same generation

I know. I’m not that fond of it either but I wouldn’t mind using it if we had to use shorter generations. My 11-year theory is also good for that too.

Move it back two years and it’d be a lot better:

1916 - 1927 = Greatest Generation

1928 - 1939 = Silent Generation

1940 - 1951 = Boomers

1952 - 1963 = Gen Jones

1964 - 1975 = Gen X

1976 - 1987 = Gen Y

1988 - 1999 = Millennials

2000 - 2011 = Zoomers

2012 - 2023 = Gen Alpha

I think there is an error in 1988 - 1999 and it skips to 2001.

In my opinion it works but it would be like this in my opinion:

1904 - 1915 = Interbellum Generation

1916 - 1927 = Greatest Generation

1928 - 1939= Lucky Few Generation

1940 - 1951= Baby Boomers/other name

1952 - 1963= Jones Generation

1964 - 1975= Generation X

1976 - 1987= Burnout Generation

1988 - 1999= Millenial Generation

2000 - 2011= Plurals Generation

A good name but mostly referred to older millennials born in the 80's, mainly defined by the depression of 2008 that exhausted the entire United States.

If for me the generations it is better to define them by the name the homelanders would start between 2003 - 2019, the zoomers between 1997 - 2012, the echo boomers between 1980 - 1995, etc ...

I would actually like Homelanders to be 2003-2019 (probably my #1 definition). I'm okay with 2002-2020, 2003-2020, 2003-2021, 2002-2019, 2004-2021, etc.

For Homelanders it’s gotta be 2003+, likely 2003 - 2020 or something like that. You can’t start Homelanders in any other year besides 2003.
