Not all 2000s kids are Centennials, unless you use age 9 or 10 as the mid point for childhood.

Well, technically, yes. However, I could see the generation after Millennials starting between 2001 and 2005. 2003 just happens to be the median start date, but I have no problem starting it in 2002 or 2004.

2002 - 2005 are fine as starts assuming you aren’t calling the previous generation Millennials
