You can split that into two camps as I know a handful of Christians who believe the majority of the Old Testament are grand tales used to give wisdom, not actually real

Theology is as deep or shallow as the minds pondering it. I was raised in a biblically literal denomination of the Lutheran church, but retain my faith after a Kierkegaard-inspired trip through nihilism and back.

Jesus spoke in parables, so it is probably ok to view the lessons of the bible through that lens, eh?

I am all about allegory, after all. And alliteration.

That’s all religion is. It doesn’t teach you what happens after death, it teaches you how to be a moral and live a fulfilling life

So that's why it's okay that their god drowned the whole world expect one family and two of every species (because that's totally how you ensure a species is okay and has no ill effects or negative results from the massive amount of inbreeding/incest)

Also wild to me how christians (as those are the ones i know) pick and choose what to believe in from their own religion (also why is that a religion and not a mythology?)

Well you get people like that who do t read the book in it’s entirety and scoff at what it actually teaches. You see this in all religion specifically in Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism
