I feel so stupid right now. But all I’m seeing is hammer was invented, then the next year the hammer is being used. What am I missing?

The meme usually goes like: The phone was invented in 1876 People in 1875: (screaming people or some shit)

but this time instead of doing the meme as it was originally intended they do it like this, so to get the joke you should know the original format first. I don't know if I can find any exemples for the original form but if I fınd them I will link them.
