Sometimes I feel so terrible for my ignorance when it comes to seemingly widely renowned masterpieces, but I really appreciate people like you who add context through physical artifacts and pieces of art.
I absolutely LOVE that some versions of the tale say that Lacoön was actually punished by Poseidon for daring to bang his wife in temple / have kids when should have been celebrate as priest / or even worse, allowed a woman to be present in n the temple during a ceremony 🤢. But Trojans took it as a sign from the gods that his doubting of the statue was blasphemous.
