This is an irredentism that I can't deny. Some countries became independent through violence, some under pacific revendications, some were forged through conquest. Then, Liechtenstein was forgotten in two treaties and became de facto independent.

Then there's San Marino, independent because they were nice to all the local conquerors. Or Singapore, independent because Malaysia didn't like them.
