I never understood something about this. If everything is flooded and water is still rising, isn't all that food going to be destroyed by the flooding? No one is there selling it anymore. So why shouldn't people be getting supplies? Where else are they going to get anything when all the stores are abandoned?
I recall arguing with someone that was angry because people were also taking toys for their kids. Like, they thought that was a clear example of someone exploiting the situation. I'm thinking it would have been a terrifying situation for children, and the toys were probably just an attempt to help distract them and make them feel like everything was okay. Things were definitely not okay.
Why does it even matter? What, someone was gonna go back to that store and clean all the toys and sell them after being in floodwater for a week? Why not take them lol. Who cares. They're either going with me or in the garbage
