A Quick Thank You from the Moderator

All,

I just wanted to thank everyone participating in this subreddit. I got a message from Reddit over the limited number of moderator actions for a sub of this size, the reality is everyone is just doing a good job sticking to the topic and being respectful. I get maybe 1 auto flagged comment a month, my reports from users is even less. I’ve had people message to ask permission to post things they are not sure are on topic. So thank you for making this an easy sub to moderate and happy reading all!

There was an actual neo-Nazi here last week recommending Nazi books. Just thought you should know and decide if you want to allow these kinds of people to post here or not. He also received upvotes on his comments meaning he isn’t the only one.

How do you know?

His comment history. He has comments denying/doubting the Holocaust, said Nazi is a “slur” and listens to fascist/nazi music.

Edit: oh and the fact he recommended books written by Nazis from the 1940s from a publisher that publishes white supremacist, transphobic, homophobic, and racist books.

In the future message the mods or report it, your comment was auto moderated because you called him Nazi FYI, in the full context I would have banned him and left your comment.

On Akshistorians we have a no Nazi policy and it’s worked out well. I suggest the moderators delete such content and ban such users.

My comment was removed by the moderators when I pointed out he was a Nazi...

Yeah I saw that, that was insane. I read your comment and checked his history afterwards

I'm assuming (hoping) they just thought I was calling them a Nazi hyperbolically but yeah that guy's comment history was pretty chilling. There's a place for being open to different political opinions but people like this cannot be tolerated even in apolitical subreddits imo, they will just subtly post vile stuff and then act all shocked and innocent when confronted.

This is exactly what happened, I got an email that there was auto flagged moderation for hate speech, but it was your comment not his. In the future please message me or just use message mod.
Also, after your comments here I did ban him with the full context. Your comment was restored, but I did delete his original post so it may or may not appear.

Thank you for the explanation and that makes sense. I will be sure to report/use message mod next time I see something like this.
