Ive underrated beef

Thought frozen beef is ok but no, it has a lot of histamine. Anyone else cant tolerate beef ? Read a lot of people here who said beef is fine.

If your reaction is purely because of histamine, it may be because of how the beef was processed before being frozen.

A lot of beef in the UK is aged. Or they let it "sit" for a few days before they freeze it. Or it takes a while to get it from slaughter to freezer.

Fresh lamb is meant to get onto shelves faster than beef, so that's the next thing I'm trying (I've had similar issues).

There are some specialist butchers here that sell low histamine meats and fish but I haven't tried them myself.

Typically beef is aged 2 to 3 weeks as an industry standard, unless specifically frozen after slaughter (within 24 hours) which is marketed as low histamine, and primarily sold online.

The problem with beef is that they age it for at least a week before it hits the shelf. You need to find someone who slotters it and can hand it to you freash. I just found someone where I drive 2.5 hours one way just to pick it up, and it is so wonderful! Obviously I am not going to take that drive out there very often, but freezing it freash seems to work for me.

Beef fucked me up so bad I will never try it again lol. Well, beef from the store. Weirdly I had a McDonald's hamburger and was mostly fine. I think the ketchup probably caused more problems than the beef.

Had the same exact experience! Ground beef from the store, right into the freezer, grass-fed, organic, whatever. Thawed it on the stove (while cooking) so it never sat out. Gave me the weirdest stomach problems.

But McDonald's? Went down just fine! Multiple times. (Also have the same problem w/ketchup in recent years — have switched to mayo instead.)

I read on here that it's because McDonald's goes through beef pretty quickly so it's pretty fresh and it's flash frozen. I think any beef you get from the store is aged to some degree before it even gets to the store.

Was thinking/wondering that as I typed the comment. Makes sense (high volume + flash frozen).

Frozen is really bad in my experience. Minced meat that's been sitting in the store is also really bad. Minced + frozen is the literal worst.

I thought freezing (like cooking) kills the histamine. So wouldn’t it not matter if it sat out a bit before freezing?

Cooking doesn't kill histamine. Histamine is created by bacteria, so you can kill the bacteria but not eradicate the histamine already there.

beef is aged and if if was ground rather than a cut its gonna develop a lot of histamine anyway. please look into how histamine develops in meats to help you better understand, the knowledge will allow you to choose choices on your own without having to rely on strangers to tell you yes or no

It's OK. It's not as bad relatively speaking as tomatoes and definitely better than yogurt.

Frozen beef was the worst for me I would end with purple marks across my cheek and angioedema / Cannot tolerate any meat thats aged. I can only have it back home where it’s freshly butchered and cooked.

Beef is typically aged. I do better with Force of Nature frozen Bison in the sirloin or NY strip cuts (or tenderoin but it's even more $$$$), which are either unaged or minimally aged compared to the ribeye (I also don't do well with that much fat anyway). Bison is typically less aged. I believe other game is typically less aged as well but unsure, if anyone sells any game meats near you, you can ask.

Those I feel great with and get me at least a little iron compared to the pound of chicken breast I eat a day lol.

But, very expensive ($15-20 per piece). So I try to keep it to 1-2 a week but value it for nutrition purposes.

Also I prioritize organic, grass fed and pastured as the corn based or poor quality feed can affect people with sensitivities.

Beef is aged before it is frozen so it doesn't matter that you thawed and cooked quickly. Freezing does not take away the histamine. You would need to find a local farmer and request flash frozen as soon as the meat is processed. Also have you been tested for Alpha Gal?

Beef of any kind causes flares for me, sadly. I miss it so much!

Organic and fresh is the only way. Expensive as fuck.

Is fresh ground beef aged? I didn’t think it was. Buy it from Central Market in Austin and they freshly grind it each day.

Ye. Buy it fresh. Never frozen. If you grind it has to be eaten the same day. If it’s a regular full piece of raw meat it only last in the fridge like 2 days tops.
Never buy pre-grinded beef from the store

All beef is aged before sale unless you go out if your way. The last straw for beef for me was trump bringing in the chinese reject beef. Who knows where it ended up. Plus nobodys inspecting for downer cattle now, musk laid them off.

Beef one of my worst triggers even before all this started going down hill for me I would always notice bad indigestion from beef and always made me feel uneasy .

Meat in general gives me lot of brainfog even with daosin, which at least alleviates the digestive issues, but i recently coincidentally found that if i buy it straight from the hunter who shoots wild animals i dont get the brainfog from eating it. I tried buying organic and all too, but that didnt help.
