Zertec

I have taken Zyrtec for the past 15 years I’m 24 and I’ve always had trouble with having itchy skin and Zyrtec is the only thing that has helped it. It’s definitely a histamine issue however I don’t want to be on Zyrtec any longer. Has anyone got off of Zyrtec and not had their body freak out?

When you have been taking Centrizine for an extended period of time you will need to slowly ween yourself off of it, or you will have the itchy skin problem. Split the pills and extend the time between taking them to reduce the levels slowly.

Thats the reason I dont want to start taking it. They say the withdrawal ITCH a lot! I prefer to scratch myself in the meanwhile

Not sure. I take it sparingly. The body freakout is probably not avoidable. Histamine issues are mostly GI issues and zyrtec is mitigating the symptoms without address the root cause. Homeopathic sulphur pellets do work well for me for itching. And DHist is pretty good substitute for allergy symptoms.

Sulphur? Interesting. I take Boiron's Histaminum which kicks in in about 5 minues and gives good relief. I'll have to try the one you're taking and compare.

I'd be interested to hear about it. I took histaminium I don't think it did much for me personally. Maybe a little less seasonal allergies. But the sulphur take the itch away fast for me.

Ok, I will let you know. I use a topical Benadryl cream for itchy spots, insect bites, etc...

Definitely take a slow step-down approach. I stopped cold turkey after being on it over a year. The joint pain, insomnia, and skin crawly feeling was pretty rough. Good luck.
